In other words he was in the army for five years and couldn't hack it or was kicked out. Why is it people with the shortest military career talk the most st? Just an observation that's all.
Hey we're not all like that, I promise

I did 2 years TA then 6 months regular army before being given the boot and I don't have even a single hi-viz in my battered old jimny. I challenge you to find someone with a less impressive military career and fewer CB aerials laugh

Christ on a bike. Walting, odd enough, but walting to be an RAF copper? That’s really twisted.

On this occasion I feel sorry for him. He clearly isn't really trying to impersonate a police officer as the graphics applied to the car are terrible and look like a F1 chequered flag style. If he was being really deliberate he would have them straight down the sides etc

Also note that actually the reason he has done this at all is because our old friends the Travelling Community have been (nicking everything in sight). So in fact police inaction for the primary cause has led to this chap being done for fitting blue lights!

Even the Mondeo is doing a bit of Walt'ing and masquerading as an ST.

The window stickers are a bit speshul.

He appears to have transposed the word "Security" over a police force crest.
As Walts go, I'd give him a solid 7/10.

I managed 4 years in the Combined Cadet Force at school which consisted of 90 minutes every Tuesday during term time and a few weekends here and there. I have no Jimny and no CB aerial... I'd say that is considerably less impressive of a military career than you wink

Since you didn't receive any remuneration for your time in the CCF can it be called a career at all, Walt? biggrin

Should I ever have the misfortune to have to spend any time in the back of a police car, I shall be most disappointed if I discover that scatter cushions are not standard issue equipment.

Which branch? We had Army, Navy or Air Force at my school (or you could do Community Service - a.k.a. "Granny Bashing"). I was in the Army section but of course was recruited into the super secret squirrel SAS CCF when they found out I was hard as nails. [/walt]

Same as my school. I was in the army too. Used to love running around with telegraph poles on our shoulders and wasting a week of our summer holiday at Cultybraggan rolleyes

I spent three years training army cadets on Merseyside when I left the military police in 1993. wink

I did Granny Bashing but used to get taken along to the CCF summer camps to help with the rock climbing. Worst yet?

People can usually tell by my 1000 yard stare that I spent time in the forces but I'm pretty discrete about it all.

Would you say ten years as one of the orange army of motorsport marshals would qualify me as a Walter Mitty type?

I met plenty of people doing that, all sorts too. Some of them certainly very 'eccentric'. They probably thought I was equally so.

Absolutely not. No one races without the volunteer marshals. If you want a higher level competition licence, you have to marshal as part of the upgrade terms. Motor racing marshals are not Walt’s.
