police cars were given to them full time, they took them home and "clocked" on from home when they got in, that was the start of the shift, non of this drive to work grab keys business, just straight out on patrol.
No doubt stems from frontier town mentality where the local sheriff would literally work from home and ride his own horse to do so.I’m guessing things are slightly different in the bigger cities.

He certainly has a way of engaging with people, regardless of which side they’re on and seems to address everyone by screaming “You fking piece of st!” at them. So very appropriate for a funeral, where he appears determined to turn every dignified, restrained cortège in to some kind of high risk anti-terrorist emergency evacuation.
And the way he yells at his co-walts.
I’m amazed he hasn’t been decked yet
Is it wrong that I'd like to really hurt him?And the way he yells at his co-walts.

To be honest I thought he was a grade 1 weapon when I first saw him, and to a large extent still do. However I'm also feeling a bit sorry for him now - for whatever reason the guy has issues way beyond trying to impress women etc - the extent of his lies and the way he just keeps doing it would indicate that he really could do with help and therapy of some sort. It's a bit sad.Gameface said:

I’d just like to tell him to shut the fk up and calm down. It’s like he has some kind of OCD thing and gets hyper-agitated when other drivers (including his fellow “officers”) don’t comply with his instructions.

He has A youtube channel, and you watch the videos and think, they do serve a purpose, been going 8 years so nothing new.
You also see the collabs with the Police and Fireservice and giving send offs, quite touching really.
Then you start to think he's just a bit of nob, walt gone mad, and it is true, because you watch other videos and realise he has pushed his luck too far, the tiny power his has, has gone to his head.
The uniform, the fake gun, lights, the way he talks, he is trying to be the police.

Then watch this, not watched it all, but no shouting, no pseudo police, just doing the job they should be doing.

The problem is give the Walts a little power it will always go to their heads.

But the real question is "why does a funeral need an escort in the first place?" I recall seeing a youtube video in the UK where a cyclist was knocked from his bike by a lollygagging tailender in a funeral party who was rushing to catch the rest of the convoy. I know it's a considerate thing, to try to cede priority to keep a funeral procession together, but if you aren't being 'protected' by escorts and outriders, you have no more right to the road than anyone else.
That video is in another league to his usual off-the wall antics - how on earth does he get away with it at all?I've actually seen this funeral procession thing myself on the way to San Francisco - not on this level, but a load of fat blokes on Harleys blocking lanes and stopping traffic for a funeral cortege.
This one came up after one of the Dewitte videos, junior walt in the making getting off to a great start!

As a result of this chap I've been watching loads and loads of "Live PD" (I think) US cop videos.
A couple of things strike me - one is the huge resources available to US cops and the gear they have available - even in buttfk middle of nowhere.
The other thing is just how cool some of their police cars are - there are some proper chunky sort of "Challenger" looking things. I'd be a bit depressed to have to go home in my own crap car after smoking round in that all day....
Stuff like these...
There are essentially three big providers of law enforcement vehicles over here: Chevrolet (Tahoe), Dodge (Charger, Durango and Ram 1500), and Ford (Police Interceptor sedan and utility, Expedition, and F150). In the county where I live, most of the local agencies use the Ford Interceptor utility model. Some officers take their liveried cars home with them at the end of the day.
When I went on holiday to Miami a few years ago, one of the mates I went with arranged a day out with Miami Beach PD (he was Sussex Police at the time, now Met) and the officer who he spent the day with was like that, could take the car home etc, and then took it to the precinct when he was on duty and did whatever. I didn't get all the ins and outs of how it works, but its a bit different to how things work over here clearly.
Just to add to this, having a take home patrol car is pretty common for officers who work for state (e.g. highway patrol) and county (sheriff's office) agencies. It is less common (but still happens in certain jurisdictions) for those who work for city or town police departments to have a take home vehicle. I used to work for the police. Some people I worked with went over to the states on a fact finding type of thing. They came back with some stories. There are apparently something like 200,00 individual and autonomous police organisations in the US. A lot are funded and controlled locally within quite small areas and make their own rules. There are then state level investigators etc that deal with more serious stuff. Very different to our setup.
In terms of organisation hierarchy, there are generally three levels (if you discount any of the federal agencies):- Local - city or town police departments, with jurisdiction limited to that particular municipality.
- County - typically your sheriff's office, which will have jurisdiction throughout the county, but will primarily focus on enforcement in unincorporated areas or provide policing services to municipalities that don't have their own police department. In certain states (e.g. Pennsylvania) there are also regional police departments within a county, where they cover several towns.
- State - highway patrol or state police, focusing primarily on traffic enforcement on major state highways and interstates, but with jurisdiction across the entire state. In some states (e.g. Maine), the state police do more than just traffic enforcement, and deal with all crimes in unincorporated areas. There are also state equivalents of the FBI, where they deal with major crime investigation and assist the smaller agencies on big cases.

I’ll say this much, despite being labelled as a bit gun-happy and totalitarian in their general approach, one thing that strikes me in all of these “Real police arrest fake police” videos is how restrained, professional and courteous the genuine officers are towards those stealing their thunder.Attitude seems to change when he is dealing with the police woman who takes him to jail too...

Can’t be easy. Fair play to them.

Just seen this one which I hadn't seen of him before, surprised "Sargeant" didn't just shoot him!

Dewitte is the gift that keeps on giving. I hope he never stops.
The thing is, if he'd realised the error of his ways regarding resembling a police officer too closely, he could have ended any further trouble by simply changing his equipment and uniforms. Behaving in a more civil, professional manner to other road users would also have reduced the likelihood of being reported to police. It's the way that he seems determined to keep clashing heads with police officers that is most disturbing. The man simply doesn't appear to be capable of learning from his mistakes.
