Agree 100% Some here and elsewhere just dont get it. But its always fun poking at those that arent as perfect as some.
Now listen here. If I have to put up with the almost daily deluge of anti-cyclist bilge, and utter contempt on the roads, because "poking fun at" that group is OK, then I'm going to with it being fine to mercilessly mock some dopey fat bloke with his trousers tucked under his tits and a knackered, stickered up Disco 1 who thinks he is somehow uniquely placed to be the Fat Controller of some toytown idea of an assistance organisation. If they want to help, they should just help. The quasi-military organisation, the livery, the flashing amber beacons? They are entirely unnecessary in almost all of their "deployment" scenarios. Again, for emphasis: It's not the spirit of volunteering being mocked, it's the chest-puffing and pomposity that some feel is an essential part of that volunteering.

I've just been to a supermarket. The moment I arrived I thought I was going to experience a massive coronawalt when I saw that a seventy-metre slalom queue had been set up in the car park, using trolleys and miles of yellow tape. There was a very hi-vis security guard running the show, directing people and talking urgently into a walkie-talkie...

BUT...

Actually he was really cool, helping people get in and stay apart, apologising for all the "fuss" but explaining it's just safer. Plus there was a really cute checkout girl at the door doing a 2.5-metre meet and greet.

All very non-walt. Apologies.

Once you've read those web pages though, you'll realise that he's not just entertainment fodder: he's an utter scumbag.
His younger brother is cut of the same cloth, and Metro-State appears to attract equally unsavoury employees.

Afraid it wasn’t really Walting. More like getting paid for doing some work. Today my local Waitrose had an SIA doorman managing the queue to enter the shop. He was dressed for a Friday night at a small town club.
Had one in my local waitrose, he was standing near the tills. Considering clientele really suprised they had him there.
You underestimate how terrifying a crowd of ladies-who-lunch can be when the organic hummus runs out.

I haven’t seen any/many spring into action so far...

Must still be keeping one eye on the phone.

No signal down in the woods, that will teach them to site the Bug-Out camp in a hollow surrounded by trees.

Isn't 'Professional Volunteers' an oxymoron?
Professional Volunteers are just morons...

Was also going to post, not seen many walts about. I think the prospect of having to do actual work is offputting.

OT I know, but I was both delighted and quite emotional that we got half a million or so volunteers in about 30 hours last week. I'm not really prone to national pride, but I did feel some.

I would have felt reassured to see the odd 4x4 Response vehicle doing slow circuits around my locality. Sadly, I have not seen one frown

Also surprised they haven’t been organising regular food parcel drop-offs to the vulnerable etc. They could use their beacons to alert their arrival. This would have been the perfect time for them to mobilise, but nothing. The airwaves are quiet.

Funny I was thinking the same thing the other day.

They should have everything set up ready to go, large vehicles for carrying lots of food, water and medical supplies etc, radio comms to make distribution more effective.

But not one peep.

I genuinely believe there are mental health issues with that chap. The other thing that puzzles me is he has lots of staff riding expensive bikes with expensive kit on them, cars the same - how the hell does he afford/fund it? There can’t be very much need for funeral escorts and surely cannot pay that well?

It’s a serious code red situation, the balloon has gone up.

Gold Command is required.

It's actually much more simple than that.

They all live in the back bedroom of their elderly parent's house and are having to self isolate because mummy says they can't go out.

Hmmm, it's sad that it's offset by the shame felt at the utterly cretinous hordes who stripped the supermarket shelves bare and booked every delivery slot.

Where does he get the money from to keep setting up fake police businesses?
