If I have to put up with the almost daily deluge of anti-cyclist bilge, and utter contempt on the roads, because "poking fun at" that group is OK, then I'm going to with it being fine to mercilessly mock some dopey fat bloke with his trousers tucked under his tits and a knackered, stickered up Disco 1 who thinks he is somehow uniquely placed to be the Fat Controller of some toytown idea of an assistance organisation. If they want to help, they should just help. The quasi-military organisation, the livery, the flashing amber beacons? They are entirely unnecessary in almost all of their "deployment" scenarios. The moment I arrived I thought I was going to experience a massive coronawalt when I saw that a seventy-metre slalom queue had been set up in the car park, using trolleys and miles of yellow tape. There was a very hi-vis security guard running the show, directing people and talking urgently into a walkie-talkie...

Actually he was really cool, helping people get in and stay apart, apologising for all the "fuss" but explaining it's just safer. Plus there was a really cute checkout girl at the door doing a 2.5-metre meet and greet.

OT I know, but I was both delighted and quite emotional that we got half a million or so volunteers in about 30 hours last week. I'm not really prone to national pride, but I did feel some.

I would have felt reassured to see the odd 4x4 Response vehicle doing slow circuits around my locality. Sadly, I have not seen one 
Also surprised they haven’t been organising regular food parcel drop-offs to the vulnerable etc. They could use their beacons to alert their arrival. This would have been the perfect time for them to mobilise, but nothing. The airwaves are quiet.
