It's ok, but not fully operational to Walt standards (bloody civvies....they do try, bless'em rolleyes )
Needs the words "Emergency", "Incident" or "Response" on it somewhere, preferably all three.

Roger that, over.

Can we add 'Chaos' to that of words as well?

My other half volunteers at RIAT, we were there for a training afternoon yesterday.
Lots of pretend pilots with flight jackets and aircrew badges attached were in attendence, and i noticed a couple of cars parked up with yellow hiviz vests on parcel shelves.
Also stickers and badges were very popular on both people and cars.
I overheard a couple saying they had no interest in the event and were only there to put it on their cv. I know you dont need to be a plane spotter but a vague interest in the charity and the event would be good.

English (US) for all corporate emails, executive briefings, etc must be in US English in both usage and spelling (hard)
The spelling I can see(and spiel chucker presumably makes easy)but the idiom and syntax some americans use is bizarre to these eyes; it would see me looking for another job pretty quickly.
I work for a large US company. Any emails or pitches I write are done in UK English. If forced, the only thing I'd write in US English would be my resignation letter.

It's like Tracey Island for the Walt brigade!

(Although the doors may need replacing with some sort of rapid deployment slides)
It needs some kind of orange aerial or an indication it might have some kind of bodged amateur communication system inside.

I'm quite saddened by the speed at which PHers are keen to do down those who volunteer. Of course you will get people who are over the top regarding delusions of power and authority - but I'd been inclined to put up with the small number of people like that in order to avoid stigmatising those ordinary folk who give of their time for others.

Rounding on a class of people I think is very indicative to me of small minded negativeness - which PH seems to exude with increasing frequency.

Quite right Eric. Hang your heads in shame you lot. Without these volunteers and one eye on the phone professionals, the U.K. would be a much worse place.

I only made a joke about the caravan.

I think it's mostly just piss taking, not meant maliciously- in any case I shall remember your kind words.

Eric dear chap, you need to go back through the entire thread. The conversation touches on the idea that there are two distinct classes of "volunteer"
Those who selflessly and tirelessly contribute a lifetime of assistance and aid without once needing nor indeed wanting any recognition for it, and those who barge to the front in their hi viz, gobbing off about being "on call" whilst getting in the way in their pretend ambulances and not actually contributing that much.
On a previous page there's a YouTube video of a Have a Go hero towing an RAC van......from one flooded car park to another equally flooded car park. I mean wow.....thanks for coming.

Eric's steadfast refusal throughout this thread to accept the difference between the Micky taking of the walts vs the genuine and useful volunteers out there makes me think he perhaps has a stickered up Vitara proudly adorning his driveway? Maybe something along the lines of "4x4 Accounting Response", hi-viz calculator and battenburg pens at the ready to swiftly assist farmers and the like struggling to get their tax returns in on time due to other commitments, like erm, farming. hehe

I think, perhaps you have missed the main thrust of the thread.

Which is mostly how the walts dishearten and discourage the former and make their life/work more difficult.

If it makes you feel any better Eric, I do a lot of voluntary stuff (Parish Council, Village Hall, local events group) and I went to a Wessex 4x4 Reponse meeting but didn't join because they were obviously at the muppetry end of the scale. There are people from both camps in all the groups I belong to; some people do it to make a bit of a difference whilst others do it so they can stick their oar in to planning applications and some seem to do it for no good reason whatsoever. For instance, the chair of our Village Hall committee is proud of the fact (and says so regularly) that he has never attended a village fete which takes place at the Hall.

The mickey taking directed at the 4x4 brigade is amusing and well aimed in my view but it's not a slight on every person under the sun that volunteers.

Exactly. There are volunteers, who are a massive benefit to society and in many ways what makes a society civilised and there are mental health victims who are a drain on national resources. The very least the latter group can do is give everyone a good laugh while they run about with orange lamps on their heads pretending to be special forces until they are sectioned or arrested.
