I never expected this thread to get to 300-plus pages.

I know I'm going to come across as a bit Walty "Respect meh authorateih!" here but so be it.

The thread is supposed to be a light hearted piss take of self important pompous people. I reckon we should acknowledge this guy fits the criteria, maybe have a laugh but be aware that he may have issues - and move the thread on.

I'm sure you'll all thank me for my kind words.

I’ll go. I had a rather pleasant experience of Walt in his element the other day. I went for my jab in Portsmouth and had a quick look beforehand on Google, found the nearest car park and plugged it into Waze. Upon arriving I was greeted by a lot of cones, a mobile refreshment station/office and about 3 or 4 people in reflective jackets. Head Walt approaches and in a slightly adenoidal voice makes a joke about not sneaking up on him in electric mode, tells me parking is free (bonus) and where to go. Upon my return he insists I take some free covid tests that I don’t really want but hey ho and makes a joke that the lad handing them out only wants my mobile number so he can see what I’m up to at the weekend. Cue jokes about vaccination centre volunteering being all about pulling and the poor lad turning red. Head Walt asks if I know the way out of town and says go right it’ll be quicker. Thoroughly lovely chap but I could see he was enjoying his dayglo invested power. This is what walts should be used for though, he served a purpose, he was running a tight ship, he was friendly and he was helpful and consequently the whole vaccination centre was running just that little bit more efficiently. Everyone wins. 9 out of 10, 1 point deducted for the absence of squash.

I suspect the squash was present, you just didn't have the requisite clearance

He also hadn't been mentioned for some time. He's only been spoken about this week because of his rushing out the door, burger in hand, to land a helicopter video.

The thread isn't solely about him, never has been, so certain posters should stop telling others how to conduct themselves.
I linked the thread to Mr Minion a few months back, and again this week as his "organisation" popped up on my Twitter feed. I'm blocked from his personal feed after making a remark about a new Golf he said was ordering last year. I've tweeted on his other feed a couple of times, but he just ignores most of the posts.
He's certainly eccentric and lives in a fantasy world where he thinks he's interacting with various branches of the emergency services, my guess is that there are an awful lot of people like that around, especially on social media.

I’ll ask when I go for my second one. If I wore a reflective jacket would that get me in?

I know - I work from the following mnemonic:

I know of the DRSABCD mnemonic
As a community first responder, I am the initial help of Send for help, I know there is also a D for defibrillator, I carry one as part of my ambulance kit.
The D for defibrillator is covered by S.

Social media gives them a platform that no one else will ( usually for good reason )

I’m keeping one eye on his situation. I think it’s possible that he suffers from seriously low self esteem ( a lot of these types do ). However, when they start donning the ( borderline illegal ) Hi vis, and shouting the odds, they cross into ridicule county. It seems ( to me at least ) that he is just living in la la land, and only seems to communicate between his own accounts ( I think ). A bit of light ribbing is fine, bullying him isn’t.

his latest one was a clip of him running out the door to tell kids to get out of the park as he thought the air ambulance as going to land. He has CCTV in his house an is seen running out I think he grabs a hi viz on way out. The comment from one person was "Is that not a bit of a walt thing to do"

Not a walt when he's there to actually do a job though, and from the sounds of it is just trying to make the day go a bit quicker and is open and chatty rather than being a miserable old bastatd who just grunts at people.

He clearly isn’t aware of google reverse image search.... or GRIS as we refer to it in the Personal Remote And Tracking Service....

i have to say the volunteers at the vaccination Centre have been really decent people, i hate needles and was worried, but they all made the process go straight forward, i think this is actually a really good British trait, helping out when needs be, most where over 60 as well.

Maybe you’re right. He was doing a job but a bit over the top and very much relishing his command therefore Walt in my book. I’m not complaining, I think the NHS has found a perfect home for them running these sort of things and we all win. A nice Walt though.

I agree. If I was retired then it's the sort of thing I would help with though without the walting.

The allure of the hi viz and cones is great though, with them comes great responsibility.

I'd be in it for the tea and biscuits. My pasty white skin acts as a natural high vis reflector.
