I was out shopping at the weekend and decided to give the creed counter a whirl to see if t was worth all the hype. I thought Aventus was good but not really all that special and reminded me of Montblanc explorer but that's much cheaper. Liked Himalaya but loved Green Irish tweed and Viking (red one). I found myself sniffing my wrist all day with those two. I think Viking seems more unique and would love to get some but does anyone know a good code or discount outlet? If it was £100 or so I wouldn't be thinking but at £285 its rather a lot!
I owned Aventus and Explorer at the same time, and whilst they were very similar, Aventus did smell more complex and a bit nicer to my nose. Explorer seemed more peppery and spicy smelling. Explorer is clearly Mont Blanc trying to go after the Aventus crowd.

Green Irish Tweed is the one Creed fragrance that I cannot get my head around because it smells so much like Cool Water that it isn't even funny. Yes, a slightly more complex and strong Cool Water, but to my noise, so much like Cool Water. (I'll be honest and say I actually prefer the very slightly more mellow smell of Cool Water...)
Got the Montblanc as my cheapy behind the penhaligons and aqua di Parma, It smells great but find it has little projection or longevity?

I bulk bought around 15 different creed decants from a seller hehe With lockdown they are still mostly full. Was wearing Bois Du Portugal today (not keen on it, so using it up). I find it best to just get decent sized decants and then decide if you like it when at least half way through.

Your mileage may vary, but I love the body wash, and bought the fragrance, but it just did not compare. I threw it away actually; not something I do lightly.

I'm not 100% where I bought it (but know it wasn't in the MB shop) but I think Amazon, so I'm open to the idea it was fake.
Thank you. If going past a shop, will try it out but won't risk a purchase.

Where do you get decants from? It sounds like a good option. I would be quite happy with a 30ml or so for just that reason.

is scentdecants.com good? They seem cheap! i'd get a few at those prices.

I got mine from Tom who was a well known seller, but has currently shut shop I read on here.

Someone on here may be able to recommend someone else, if not check the classified on Basenotes and other forums. Along with ebay and what not.

Palmolive on Basenotes is probably the most reliable UK decanter since Tom shut up shop. I've had a few from him in the past.

I've just received a sample of Emperor Extrait from Parfums Vintage. At first sniff it does seem to be a very passable Aventus substitute.

The general consensus amongst us lot, and some fragrance reviewers, is that it's actually better than the current Aventus. Smells very much more like the 'old' Aventus, and lasts very well.

What are those miniature bottle things called where you can easily fill them up from a normal fragrance bottle, but they are a lot smaller for taking travelling or holidays etc.

And can anyone recommend a decent one, or is it just a case of getting something from Ebay?

Atomisers. I'll dig out a couple of links when I get home.

My sample passed the test - I’ve ordered a bottle. Opening is very similar, mid seems a bit “green” to me (not sure I’m describing it well!), the end is very familiar again.

The one Funk used to send me the Emperor Extrait was better than the ones Tom used to send the Creed decants in.

I had a cheap one years ago but I've lost it, hence why I'm asking, and it was pretty good because it had a valve on the bottom and you filled it simply by pulling the spray nozzle off the top of any fragrance, and pumping the atomiser on the stem part that was still sticking up.

It would fill seamlessly in seconds without spilling a drop.

I bought a few of those from AliExpress.
Come to mention it I've not seen them for months.

Just looked at this site. Based in Dubai?

What does the "inspired by Aventus" hehe come to in GBP Inc all costs?

You should get a sample of essense vaults aventus clone and compare it .

I read a lot of reviews as many of them seem to be OK for a bit but then the pump part fails rendering it inoperable for the purpose it was intended. These ones seemed well-reviewed and having tested one myself they seem to work reliably and don't leak:

Parfums Vintage order done, complete with 15% discount.
All arrived today (always been impressed with the speed of delivery by PV). They've chucked in a Rush of Unicorns Extreme sample for free too.

At first sniff, RoU is a very decent Creed Millesime Imperial clone. Definitely worth considering if you're a tight git on a budget.
