I genuinely can't recall if I've tried Terre d'Hermes. You guys all seem to love it and the notes look right up my street - but I don't want to buy it if I've already had a sample and decided it wasn't for me...
Defo a more mature fragrance imo. Quite unlike anything I already have in the collection.

Check out Notino, cheapest place I could find it: https://www.notino.co.uk/hermes/terre-dhermes-eau-...
(use the discount code 'Notino' for extra discount).
Cheers, might get a sample first...
I've got one (from ScentSamples iirc), couple of ml left. Yours if you want it?

dibs if he doesn't call it hehe

Thanks g3org3y; the more I think back, the more I'm pretty certain I had one as a freebie in another sample order already. I also don't normally say this but...I do have plenty of other fragrances to choose from too..! hehe Thanks for the kind offer though!

Public service announcement:

If you intend in buying any of the Molton Brown fragrances, make sure you buy the EDP versions, not the EDT. The difference in staying power between them isn’t even close.

You could absolutely douse yourself with EDT and it would be gone within an hour, and that is no exaggeration. You wouldn’t be able to smell it at all.

The EDP on the other hand easily lasts all day with only a few sprays.

The Molton Brown frags are really nice, but do not waste your money on the EDT.

I'm starting to realise why I am the odd one out that enjoys Floris Elite. I just sprayed Floris Leather Oud and my missus said it reminded her of Creed Acier Aluminium which was a favourite of mine and one that she very much did not like biggrin

Sample of D'Hermes arrived today. It is a nice fragrance and may well end up buying some (this is getting expensive).

Does anyone know whether the EDP is the same as the EDT, but stronger, or are they different fragrances?

They are different fragrances, I prefer the full parfum one personally.

I think the Molton Brown frags are awful.

Artificial, no longevity.

Of course other viewpoints are available. The value of your investment may go down as well as up.

Today I very much enjoyed Jean Paul Gaultier "Le Male Essence De Parfum". It's one that's no longer available so I try to use it sparingly; a fantastic fragrance.

Cheers. Only reason I asked is that I can get 40% off if I want.

My wife bought me Tobacco Absolute EDT, and whilst I do really like the smell, the longevity is non-existent. I just cannot believe how bad it is. Easily the worst I have ever experienced on any fragrance, ever. It is gone within 30-60 minutes, and I do mean gone completely. At £60 for 50ml it is nothing short of theft.

On the other hand, my Dad owns a bottle of Oudh Accord & Gold EDP, and I think it smells very nice, and it also has good longevity as I have tried it on and it lasted the best part of 8 hours. But, it's £120 so certainly a premium price.

All of this is entirely subjective of course, but personally I don't think I would be buying any Molton Brown frags in a hurry as if you bought one it would have to be the EDP, and for £120, there are way more reputable options available, and for less money.

I would agree. (Although I haven't tried that many of them).

I had a bad experience with a purchase of Jo Malone. I wanted a small bottle of a summery fragrance to travel with for holidays, and quickly popped into Selfridges on my lunch one day. After sniffing a few, the store assistant recommended Jo Malone Aqua Cologne which comes in a 30ml bottle. Was expensive for 30ml at £58, but a quick spray in the store suggested it was a fresh scent.

When I wore it the next day, away from the mess of all the different store scents, I hated it. It just smelled like the cheapest lemon bathroom cleaner you can imagine. Like a bad lemon car air freshener. Awful. The longevity was appalling as well. My wife could smell it on me beyond about 1 hour or so.

https://www.selfridges.com/GB/en/cat/jo-malone-lon...

I ended up giving it away for free as part of one of my 'bundle deals' to a PH'er. Absolute waste of £58.

Wearing Penhaligon’s Juniper Sling today - I really love the scent , longevity isn’t great but I just use it more frequently.

For some reason there are certain pockets of scents that just don’t last well on me - Bleu being one of them , despite the fact I love the smell. It is usually the fresher / citrusy scents.

Decorated my office and , fortunately while empty, managed to drop and destroy my aftershave cabinet. Good excuse for an upgrade:

Decided to give my work colleagues something a little more challenging today; am wearing Tom Ford Ombré Leather. I really like this but it's a somewhat unusual scent - it really doubles down on the leather aspect.
