Reading the comments on Spice Bomb above being an Autumn/Winter fragrance what would we think is a good summer one ?
D&G Light Blue (my #1)
Maison Margiela Sailing Day
JPG Ultra Male
YSL Y EDP
Acqua di Gio Profumo or Profundo (good year round tbh)
Creed Millesime Imperial or Erolfa or Virgin Island Water
Tom Ford Mandarino di Amalfi or Neroli Portofino

I absolutely agree, or evening wear would be fine. You certainly wouldn't want to wear it on a warm summer day as it just wouldn't sit right.

I have sold off much of my collection and not replaced others as they have run out, and now I'm down to:

All year / Summer / Office:
Mancera - Cedrat Boise EDP
Armaf - Club de Nuit Intense Man EDT
Molton Brown - Tobacco Absolute EDT

Cooler weather / Evenings / Nights:
V&R - Spicebomb Extreme EDP
Moncler - Pour Homme EDP
Sunnamusk - Abid Ambre EDP

Very happy with all those and do wear them all in rotation depending on my mood or what I'm doing that day.
No Emperor Extrait?

I'd add the following...

Pricey: (£245/100ml)
Creed Green Irish Tweed
Creed Himalaya

Not obscene: (£100-ish/100ml)
Chanel Allure Homme Sport Eau Extreme EdP
Bleu de Chanel EdP

Budget: (£40-ish for 100ml)
Paco Rabanne Ultraviolet Man

Any thoughts on Silver Mountain Water? I haven't been anywhere recently that stocks it but heading to London next week for the first time in a while

Sadly not. I used every last drop and haven't replaced it.

It was truly excellent, but when I looked at buying another bottle it was over £103 for 50ml (inc delivery) due to price rises and our exchange rate against the dollar, and I decided enjoy different 'daily driver' fragrances instead, and to be honest, having worn Aventus for years, I was fancying a change.

But, once my bottle of EE was used up, I did kind of miss having that Aventus smell available, and given the ridiculously cheap price, I couldn't resist buying 105ml of Armaf Club De Nuit Intense for £26, just to try it out.

Is it as good as EE? No, it is not. The opening is rough and plastic smelling, and you can tell it is clearly made to a price, but, once the opening dries off within 2 mins, it quickly becomes a pretty convincing, and very pleasant, Aventus-a-like. It also lasts way better than you would expect for an EDT. You'll still be smelling it 6 hours later, and on clothing you can still smell it the next day.

If someone walked past me in the street wearing Armaf, I would assume it was Aventus.

EE never smelt anything other than excellent and high quality, and the longevity was, as we all know, insane. Pretty much all day. It is still worth the £100 it now costs, as it is way better than genuine Aventus and less than half the price, but I guess it is just personal choice over how much value you place on the increase in quality between Armaf and EE.

For the moment I'll wear the Armaf on the days I want that Aventus feeling, and Cedrat Boise has also become a daily driver Aventus replacement for me, as it does give that Aventus vibe, smells fresh, fruity, and very high quality, but with more blackcurrant than pineapple, and I really enjoy it.

I went for Spice Bomb Extreme after recommendations for something that evoked but was much better than the cheap Ted Baker spray I got last Christmas.

It's lovely.

Don't know about it's unsuitability for warmer weather - I've just been wearing it whilst out for work in Florida, and got loads of compliments whilst out for St Patrick's from Spring Break Floridians...

This is the answer to a question that no-one asked, but to tack onto the discussion re season versus fragrances, if I had to choose one all-rounder it would be Acqua Di Gio Profumo.

Great question though and I would throw it open to everyone:

What is your one single do-it-all fragrance if you had to pick one? Year round. Office. Nights out. Summer. Everything.

It's a tough one, but for me I think I would be tempted to say that for right now, my choice would be Mancera Cedrat Boise.

That is actually a really tough one. YSL Y Le Parfum EdP is definitely up there, as is Bleu de Chanel EdP.

I actually don't think I could narrow it down to just one.

If I could only buy one more aftershave and use it as an all rounder it would be Pour Monsieur EDP.

Good choices above.

I'd have to go with Amouage Jubilation XXV.

Not worth the money.

It's somewhat unique because it's a fresh Blue de Chanel type scent but it has a metallic element that most of these scents don't have. But it's not worth the Creed premium plus it has bad longevity.

I spent a half hour trying sampler sticks at the duty free this week. I didn’t come up with anything that I preferred to my staples of Creed Green Mountain Tweed and Aventus. Am I not trying hard enough? I thought Tom Ford but nothing really took my fancy. If I were to seek out one top notch scent to match my two Creed staples, what should I be trying?

Ah - never heard of it, so thanks for the warning

While I am on, to what extent is a long-lasting brand just a marketing name for formulas that regularly change? Are any of them exactly the same as 20 years ago?
