An XC90 weighs 15 tons? Or did I hear it wrong.
I do not think that hitting it with hammers in situ is that scary, as there will have been rigorous, numerous and much harsher testing done at ground level. I'd give it a bash anyway.

With these demonstrations I don't worry about the integrity of the glass panel, it's the bits round it, put together on site in all conditions potentially by the work experience boy.

This thread reminds me of a story earlier in the year about the 'longest suspended glass bridge' called Braveman's Bridge made and located in China. I'd be worried about the welding too, let alone the glass,which just looked like a load of patio doors laid down, here is a screen grab for your enjoyment....
