Looking forward to the Dressage and Equestrian at the Olympics. Bonus points if you can name any participants.
In fact, pretty much all Olympic sports are not council.
have you seen how much make-up they wear in some of the athletic events ? in colours that don't match their skin tones. looks like they are going round town straight after the sprint In fact, pretty much all Olympic sports are not council.

In response to the "Council" thread which now seems to include so much that this will probably die on it's feet.
"Things which are not Council at all"
My first suggestion :
Driving a Volvo V70 pre 2004
What is it with this? am i the only one that thinks a 12 year old plus car worth peanuts isnt exactly driven by well educated, wealthy people?"Things which are not Council at all"

Anecdotally, here in the land of Volvo the estate models are known as "sossekontainer" Socialist containers

You obviously don't 'get' it Look at it this way: in a world where cars are leased and changed for a shiney new one on a regular basis, in a world where attempting to impress strangers with an image of 'wealth' that may or may not (I really don't care) be justified seems really important to people, in a world where you've got to be seen to have the latest gadget… perhaps there are some people to whom all that is irrelevant?
I'll use my missus's car as an example. It's 19 years old, has near as damn 200,000 miles under its belt and is worth about a 800 quid, tops.
She could easily afford something brand new or 'better' but why should she? She loves her car (had the damn thing for 12 years now!) and it owes her nothing. With servicing (done by me - although she does help as she enjoys working on cars) her V70 will go on forever. So should she change it just because some people see it as old or of little value?
Perhaps well-educated or intelligent (not that they are mutually exclusive) people can see beyond the attitude you display.
That's why I mentioned earlier on the thread about still owning a CRT TV. When it goes pop it will be replaced with a nice flat screen HD thing… but I'll be twice-treble damned if I fork out several hundred quid to replace a set that works perfectly well.
As I drive a classic, similar-ish rules apply: it really makes no sense. For the money it's worth I could get something newer, faster, more economical… but you know what? I don't want to live my life to please other people's ideals of what's acceptable.
As far as I can tell, the laudable quality of 'council' types is that they really don't give a toss about other peoples opinions - they get on with their lives and they seem to enjoy themselves… and fair play to 'em.

Yet, her parents live in a four story town-house in north London which they paid peanuts for 50 yrs ago. Now? Well, it would be far to "council" to talk about money,
yet you talk quite happily about it in other threads. pot / kettle ???tenfour said:
We live abroad now, so better to have the money doing something and getting a monthly income from it that being sat in a fund or something.

Bellstaff wax oil jacket. - Or barbour - not those silly quilted things that were 'in' last year
Dornbluth & son wrist watch. - Dornblueth and Sohn, you mean. But basically any decent watch that's been handed down from the generation above your parents, rather than a flashy Brietling.
No more then two children.

Horse box. (except if contains trotting ponies)
Post / Parcel box on gate post by cattle grid. (except if house is a static caravan)
Gated pebble drive. (as above)

Never been in McDonald's, thinks a Chippy is a trades person. - Nope. Thinks 'chippy' means 'having chip on shoulder'
