If any of the Bakelite parts are proving hard to source you can make moulds from the better examples of the old ones and cast new ones in Araldite. There's even a black dye you can use.

Very good idea I haven't heard of that one.

I have been struggling with casting distributor caps with play-doh they look great in pink but don't last long when they get wet.

Granddaughter has a Play Doh kitchen set, Noodle Makin' Mania I think it's called. Comes with a little extruder machine.

Not really much good for engine parts, though I suppose you could knock up some convincing looking HT leads with it.

The Doh stuff comes in some nice colours too.

Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't you have more success crocheting a new magneto out of steel wool?

I'm afraid the magneto project was somewhat ill-fated old chap.

The steel wool stripped the crochet needles of their coating thus causing contamination and corrosion issues.

I'm confident we can make another attempt this summer using some Kevlar ones.

Of course, in Newbury we don't just have an elephant in the room.

The Elephant at the Market?

Can't be that far removed from A Bull in a China Shop?

The Bull in the China Shop is on the other side of Market Square. The landlords don't speak.

Hellfire. It's a bit late for a flypast, here he is on the lawn though.

A blog? Sounds good.

It's a lovely day out there. I'm off to do a bit of fishing, have a few hours by the lakes not far from us.

I think I've got all the kit I need. I've definitely got the Primus stove, some sausage, eggs and bacon so that'll be a good start lick

I want to keep the blog anonymous, and I need to figure out whether it wold be best written in the style of a diary, musings on life or help page. Or all three. Perhaps that's my answer.

Have I mentioned I'm allergic to wasp sting? This unwelcome visitor reminded me.

Unsure whether I'm also allergic to hornet sting I chose the safe option and hit it with a trade plate.

People laughed when I said I was going to be a comedian. They're not laughing now.
