Why is it that some cars get called classics just because they are old? They were crap then and are still crap!
my mate used to have a hillman avenger, what a pile of cr-p that was!
Way back in the early 80's, chap I worked with had an Avenger Tiger. Bloody quick it was, literally fell apart though within about 18 months of him buying it. It was about five years old then.

Another colleague had a Princess 2200. One of the wedge shaped things. It ate three sets of driveshafts in less than a year.

They don't make 'em like that any more.
I went to the south of France in an Avenger in 1980. It fell apart down there and in fixing it I cut my hand when a spanner slipped - cue 4 stitches and a 150 franc doctors bill. No sun cream either- never seen sun like, so got sunburn badly and was generally up the creek for 2 weeks.

I think I'd recognise it. If you tell me which railway it is or between where and where is it supposed to run and I'll go and look for telltale signs. Rails for example.
Rails fine. Signals fked irked

When the old fella took us to watch motor racing in the sixties, the Abarth Fiat 500 was a regular sight. They slipstreated each other so closely they were forever bumping each other on the faster sections.

Minis, Anglia, Imps, Cortinas and Fiat 500s.

Thems were the days.

Sorry boss, will try harder to post more often.

We're getting audited at work today. Apparently me just turning up and saying "yep, there's one of me" isn't quite good enough and I have to actually talk about what I do. This could be interesting...

But I'd put money on it being very boring

I've been listening to an audiobook for the past week when on my travels. I finished listening to it last night and now have to rely on Nick Grimshaw on BBC R1 to keep me entertained this morning on my commute.

Radio 1?? I thought it started at 2 and went up in evens.

I've had a valve go though so haven't listened since 1993.

When you think about it the answer to so many questions is Bakelite.

And waiting for things to warm up.

The two answers are: Bakelite, waiting for things to warm up and a pint in the Snug.

The three things, the most important things. Drat.

Hang on, I'll start again

Yay me.

I did finally manage to stay awake during the Italy leg of Paul showbiz's road trip.

The bits I missed both previous times were the Pagani and the Driving the 3 wheeled Ape truck.

I do have to point out a glaring error in the script.

When Paul H is at the sight of Alfonso de Portago's crash that signalled the end of full on Mille Miglia races ,he said it

happened March 12th 1957 ,it was May 12th, as AFAIK ,the MM did and still does with the retrospectives that run today are always

in May.

Somewhere, I've got an old Bakelite aircraft junction box with the 'Air Ministry' stamp on the lid.

No idea what aircraft it came from, it was a sort of generic component that was fitted to different types around the WW2 era.

Not sure where it is now, probably in a box in the garage. God knows there's enough junk in there.

Better than I was thanks ali kat, definite improvement smile

Hope the house project is going well. Things like that always seem to take twice as long as you first expect.

Does a couple of pints in a half decent pub one evening appear anywhere on your schedule of convalescence?
