Well there are some huge waves breaking over the flood gates and probably 9-10 inches of floodwater behind the dunes but it's only 15 minutes to high water so I think we will get away with flooded roads/gardens, going to be a close run thing though. It's lovely here when the sun shines #alwayslookonthebrightside
Its been 3 hours are things ok with you?kapiteinlangzaam said:

Its been 3 hours are things ok with you?Edit to add. Without the sea defenses that were built after the 1953 floods, people would have died here tonight (as they did then), as it is we've just got some clearing up to do.
Edit to add again.
One thing I'd like to add is a pat on the back for the people from the Environment Agency. They've been here all day from early this morning. The weather has been atrocious all day. Started with freezing temperatures, followed by heavy rain, followed by heavy snow and back to heavy rain and hail, all in icy gale force winds. The last ones left about 10 tonight, they earned their money today.

Temperature is rising as fast as the cloud is pushing in, that isn't accurate and any snow there is will be very wet and temporary, before being restricted to high ground and the extreme east of the rain extent. Might stay as snow a bit more in the SE.ETA, actually you can see the snow is already restricted to high ground, it's +7 or 8C in the west and +2 to +5C over most the rest, only E is cold enough for snow at sea level currently.

I think we're past the small animals stage.
Of course the forecast might be wrong, it's always tricky judging if the Atlantic has enough oomph to push the cold out.
It was already a bit of a knife edge, they were expecting colder air to persist in the south and east for coming days.
If the cold pushes back now it could result in more snow rather than the rapid reversion to rain that was expected in most areas.
Tomorrow will tell.
