It is odd - we had a load park up near the village, a post went up on the local Facebook page and immediately the travellers were replying saying they were just like the rest of us, how do we know they were travellers, etc.

Much the same here on our local page, the amusing thing is the people responding are usually incredibly tanned, holding a baby in the most frilly outfit ever while sitting on a sofa that is covered in clear plastic. They also have 2000 friends, most with the same surname and very similar profile pictures. They are also illiterate.

There are usually a few non-travelling travellers in the groups that tip them off on whatever secret message system they use to notify each other about all the broken access gates I guess.

nono there are no broken access gates until they arrive. At which point they stare at them really hard and the locks just rust away and fall off

There's an infestation at a local park near me. Unsurprisingly, thefts from sheds, garages and vans have gone up. One old boy was even marched to the bank to withdraw almost £1000 following some dubious work. However, it couldn't possibly be these cheeky scamps. Must just be the local scallies who take the opportunity when the travellers arrive.

On the radio earlier I heard that the authorities are looking to set up ‘transit parks’ for travellers.

Appropriate name!

They already have an obligation to provide them.

I suppose they could have been called Transit Camps, but that didn't work out well in years gone by...

If he’s got any sense he’ll be using this as a way to train his staff to be more circumspect about the reasons given for non-admittance. I can’t believe for a second he wants them there, but he doesn’t want the fines or publicity either.

Perhaps, but I think the news feature was about setting up more and bigger ones. I just liked the name

Apparently had half a dozen or so caravans parked up in my local town centre car park, gone in less than 24hours but still managed to leave a skip or 2 worth of rubbish!

I have trouble reconciling the race/ethnicity card that’s played, all the ones I’ve seen, and I despise seeing them, look to be white Anglo-Saxon, which makes me ashamed to be Anglo-Saxon myself.
I KNOW that somehow they’ve been recognised as a separate race, but what’s next, will people who live in the Shetlands be recognised as a separate race too.
I’m not suggesting for one minute that Shetlanders should be seen as different, as far as I’m concerned, they’re as Caucasian as my family and myself.

I'm an engineer at a large loss adjusting firm; cable and pipework thefts make up about 20% of my case-load, and the caravan club are always involved. In the majority of cases, the policyholders are often critical of the police and their refusal to acknowledge any forced entry.

I went to look at one case where they had broken into a vacant furniture showroom / warehouse on a large trading estate. After inspecting the damage, I called at the butty van outside. As I waited, the woman in the van asked if I was working in the area. I told her I had been in the unit in front of her and she began to tell me she was there and reported it to the police. She said she saw them cut the padlock off the gate, but the copper looked at it and said the padlock was undamaged. She pointed to the other entrance and told him he was looking at the wrong gate; he stood there and said there was no other gate.

Another recent one was a bathroom warehouse; usually they target vacant buildings, but this was occupied. They broke in after they closed on Friday, first cutting the padlock off the gate. When the police and owners arrived, they had fitted their own padlock (a common tactic). One of the owners told the police he was going to cut the padlock off; he told me they warned him that if he did so, he would be arrested for criminal damage.

Can someone explain to me why the Police are not using either armed response teams or at least tasers to put a stop to these people before a member of the public ends up with life changing or fatal injuries.

Because it upsets the middle class studenty social justice warriors and stay at home Chelsea tractor driving yummy mummies, who hail from areas largely unaffected by these issues, with big iron gates to keep out the common plebs. It's their duty (don't you know?) to protect those minorities who cannot defend themselves, such as pie people and illegal migrants.

I wish they'd just stay on their f**king "gap yah" tbh, "helping" poor starving children by taking selfies of themselves with said children, etc.
