An infestation moved in to a large car park near me in Dudley, West Mids a few weeks back. As usual, full of new cars, new caravans, flatbed trucks etc.
Perhaps the government should issue a few "unexplained wealth orders" on travelers.

What's the point? The government and the law enforcement bodies have taken an unpublished decision never to prosecute anyway.

I should say this will give the cops in England a break, but they take quite a softly softly approach with travellers.

Up in Norfolk at Swaffham the local kids from the local official camp have started throwing stones at cars smashing windows etc.
The camp was smart when opened now its just full of all the usual van cars and crap that is around every site.
I think it was 6 last week that had windows smashed..
One of the victims had kids in the car and saw the s running back to caravans on their camp.
The local police briefly posted on facebook saying they new it was the kids and they would be dealt with.
Thats since been taking down.
Loads on the local facebook groups with details of where and what happened etc.
Now the police are appealing for info so they can do nothing.
The police enguagement officer, you cant call it liaison officer is now appealing for info and they are looking into it.
I'm not going to hold my breath that any will happen.

I'm sorry, but there's a big hole in official policy and the police are looking into it.

Hat tip to Tommy Cooper, or should that be a fez tip?

Well this didn't go to plan - gang attempts to rob traveller site.

"'Armed and disguised as they were, the group stormed the site, climbing over walls, charging through gates and attacking each caravan that they came to,' he continued.

'But the fact the attack was probably unsuccessful has more to do with the response of the families on the site and their vigorous, and even desperate, response.

'The attackers were chased across fields in all directions to flee the scene and residents used their own vehicles to ram parked cars, disabling some of them and preventing escape.

'This is a case which can properly be described as exceptional.'"

Did you see the sentences handed down? Shouldn't have picked on such a caring, honest and valued minority group...

If our traveller friends weren't the upstanding community we all know them to be, I'd question whether there was more to this story.

You clearly missed the 'The comments below have been moderated' notice.

I daresay that many commentators will have left commiserations, only to have them deleted.

hehe I imagine the thinking was that any theft would not get reported, hence the lack of care of leaving a trail.

Bexley/Sidcup - seem to be some in the area.

Had the women/children in the Railway station Car Park Saturday asking where they could buy a car park ticket (after mine I think as I was just leaving (weekly ticket so not going to give it up)) when I pointed them towards machine they decided to just go park in the Disabled bay and walk off ...

Yesterday - somebody knocks on the front door - white van with ladders asking if we want our drive cleaned .......

Local jungle drums (wifes and whatsapp) spreading the word.

Hopefully police will put a few more patrols out in the area (usually quite good tbh)

oh right, so the "traveller" community are happy to call on the police and the courts when they're the victims then?

the police didn't bother to ask the origins of the piles of cash that the robbers were there to take I suppose?

The Good: Reading Borough Council attempts to create borough wide injunction blocking illegal sites:

The Bad: Reading Borough Council tells traffic wardens not to ticket travellers in borough car park:
https://www.inyourarea.co.uk/news/traffic-wardens-...

The car park story has kicked up quite the stink in Reading.
