Don't suppose you are anywhere near Weston Super Mare or Burnham on Sea are you?

The local Boots got done over so many time they had to fit metal shutters in the end...

...coincidence that 'wobbly-box-wanderers' were in town at the same time. The local authorities just put out a warning to holiday makers advising them not to buy perfumes and aftershaves from them mad
Is that the ones that were in Morrisons car park ? Currently parked up in Ashcombe Park now.

No charge for green waste though, that the councils will sell on to the compost companies at a profit. Unless your particular council charge for a green wheelie bin of course.

We compost all our garden waste except for our once per annum hedge trimmings which go to the tip so I don't know if they charge for a green waste bin here, I think not.

Surely if they're happy to take my metal and garden waste if that has value they should take my other waste which does not. I do pay them £2k year for not a lot.

I would have thought the simplest way for councils to end fly tipping would be to provide an at cost or even lightly subsidised rubbish collection service. If all the one man with his van blokes can do it and make a living the council should be able to given that they are the ones levying the charges against these chaps which their own service wouldn't have to pay.

Sunderland council certainly used to, no idea if it's still a thing though.

Not sure thats correct.

The compost used to be given away to farmers for free, and the haulage used to be free as well years ago. Think they charge a nominal amount of £2.50/t or something now. If they're not changing the customer then I bet the council pay to get rid of it.

+1

Makes you wonder what would happen if the unauthorized encampment was on the police station car park.
Or on the local council offices car park.

We had to pay £20 one off charge (yeah, right) for our green garden bin. The local tip now charges for anything over very basic DIY rubbish and are going to start checking addresses and restricting the number of visits soon. I am dead against fly tipping, but you can see why it goes on.

And to keep on topic, our travelling friends are moving round Weston Super Mare at the moment and are currently pitched up next to a bowling club

Annual fee here for a green bin is £45.

As others have posted if councils weren't so anal about what can be taken to the dump then fly tipping would probably disappear.
It would also save the councils the clean up costs.

They dug up a football pitch, vandalised the clubhouse and left s**t everywhere in Portishead

What is wrong with them that they think it is OK to treat other people's property like their toilet?

They are crapping in the bushes in Ashcombe Park WSM now. I was going to walk the dog down there tomorrow, but I might give it a miss now !

Article says:

"Traveller families would be allowed to stay on the sites for up to 28 days with no fear of being evicted, but would have to sign a good behaviour contract with the council."

Contract?! Good Behavior?! With a Gypsy?! laugh Because they really believe in contracts.

Have they not watched Snatch?

Just be aware folks, just noticed there has been a complaint about this thread requesting it be closed due to racist comments, e.g. use of term parasites was the issue raised iirc. See website feedback.

That is ridiculous. Another SJW shows his head. Noted for future reference. Perhaps instead of complaining about things he doesn't like he should learn what the little 'x' does in the top corner of his browser and move on to another thread? rolleyes I'm glad that common sense has prevailed and the mods have ignored his crying.
