I thought the Tax man took a very dim view of selling property for wildly less than it's true value? Don't know if I've made that up or not, but I seem to remember reading something about it. Surely even our nomadic friends are not immune from HMRC?

Blimey that is some discount. They are brilliant negotiators it would seem. With all that cash saved on a dream property i wonder why the son was out robbing old folk.

I do hope the authorities investigate and we do get to know the truth.

Well at least from the photos they seem to be looking after the place. At the rate they're going it soon will be worth what they paid for it.

I fear that some of them may not have kept up to date with their membership dues.

Isn't the Stamp payable on the value, not the actual selling price? There should at least be enough on them to go after that?

I drive a Taxi for a living in a seaside town and naturally we get our fair share of travellers here, over the weekend four guys got in my cab at the rank, one drunk the others not too bad, asked where they were going and quoted a price of £22.00 to them. The guy who was drunk called me a c**t and told me I will be getting £10.00 off them, me without thinking i just responded with
"well most people think your a bunch of c***s as well so we're in the same boat then" to be honest I instantly wished I hadn't said it but a guy in the just firmly patted my shoulder and "I like you fella" and just handed me £25.00 and off we went.

The rest of the journey was alright even had a bit of a laugh with them, maybe I got them on a good day who knows, to be fair most of the ones I've come across all seem to be old school with a bit of respect but I guess they're a dying breed now.

I know cool story bro and all that.

They are shooting at our late night buses now

Bus company is threatening to stop running late night buses. It's a very pleasant semi rural route, the buses are busy, even leaving Reading at 11pm. Just so happens all the attacks are happening yards from a permanent traveler site. But notice how no one mentions them...

Yeah don't ruin the narrative of scum dragging our country down into the mire. There are good ones out there too...

It's the 99% that ruin the reputation of the good 1%...

I know quite a few travellers who are ok and actually benefit the community they lived in. Most of them had settled and had hilariously tacky but immaculately tidy homes with ridiculous gates and statues like a stately home.

I once had an engine replaced by a scrapyard, the engine which I'd supplied was no good. They took it back out, found a decent engine, fitted it and off their bat went after the bloke who sold me the dodgy engine and got me my money back.

I'm certainly not denying there are a huge number of thieving bds amongst the 'community', although weirdly I've found being on cordial or friendly terms with them helps enormously. I live right next door to a showman's winter pitch and you'd really never know they were there, they're polite, quiet and easy to get on with.

That's a very generous aggregate.

A piece on the One Show now.
It was about a school with 1/3 of the pupils travellers.
They spoke to 2 mothers who both said their kids would not stay in school and go to secondary school.
The teacher was trying to justify why they come out of school.
Apparently some of them learn a trade, just a pity its not a legal one.
It was the smartest site that i have seen they are normally full of crap as they dont seem to use bins.

I was in my car last night and 4 came shuffling past me when i was sat in traffic.
When i moved up a bit one came scampering out of someones garden with a bag of what looked like scrap wire.
Just to keep the reputation alive
