"The government said the majority of the traveller community were law-abiding."

Citation required?
I'm assuming it's law that you pay council tax? Tax collection from traveller sites is below 20%.
Minority is less that half.

lets be fair- assuming law abiding means excluding all Children, and excluding all OAPS.

A guesstimate of the community that's a majority 51%

So it's only the minority of the community 49%

Or in other words all adults 18-65 years old that are not law abiding

Seems about right.

Loving the probably, completely legal above board building made with completely deffo paid for selection of random bricks and windows. Points added for the symmetrical roofline and lack of soldier course on the largest window on the gable end.

I'm sure the proprietor of the Bull was only too glad to donate his pub sign as well.
If you zoom out a bit and pan to the right there are 20/30 cars at the back of the lot. Pool cars I reckon

Well a load appeared in Burpham yesterday, parking up in Sutherland Memorial park, security in the sainsbury opposite was beefed up and a load were kicked out due to stealing, then a load more went back and set upon a security guard; beating him up, intimidating the customers and jumping up and down on cars in the car park.

Just misunderstood though!

In terms of travesties, the pain caused vs the penalty, taking someone’s dog has to be the ultimate. I can’t imagine the anguish of having your best mate taken to end up in a stty traveller/bait dog situation. Those s should be killed.

A few years ago one of our dogs was stolen from the garden, we got her back and I'm positive it was due to "Traveler" friends of the wife who became involved in putting the word out about her going missing and one of the mothers of the friends being a Traveler matriarch; whether Travelers had taken her and the word was put out to return her forthwith, or another criminal element was leaned on by the traveler community, who knows.

The whole situation was very weird, but we got her back within 24 hours and she was fine, a friend of ours at the time was a gamekeeper and always had run ins with travelers, his words were "if travelers are helping you, I guarantee you will get her back"

I assume police, if they turned up at all, waited until they were sure they all gone?

Worcester, motorbike training place at the back of Lidl, i.e. Archdale Social club car Park, infestation there, 4 arrested for theft, though no statement from police that they were travellers due to " national guidelines", bailiffs now waiting for members of traveller families to come and remove vehicles etc.

Nice.

Guildford council say :

(For the Travellers)

We aim to make sure that the quality of the service provided to Gypsies and Travellers living on local authority owned and private sites within Guildford Borough is fair and appropriate. Ash Bridge, Ash and Cobbet Close, Normandy, with 13 and 17 pitches respectively are managed by Guildford Borough Council on behalf of Surrey County Council. In addition, there are a number of private sites within the Borough where Gypsies and Travellers seek to occupy land and this involves working with parish councils, planning, Surrey County Council, police officers and other agencies.

The following are the minimum service standards that you can expect from our Environmental Control team: -

General
All enquiries and inspections will be dealt with equally, in accordance with the Guildford Borough Equality and Diversity Policy.

We will undertake any necessary enforcement action in a consistent, targeted and proportionate manner.
Response times
We will respond to enquiries in the following order:

Within 3 hours; report repair requests to Tenant Support Services
Within 1 working day: where there are Gypsy/Traveller encampments
Within 3 working days; where there are queries regarding rent, site conditions and tenant support
Within 5 working days; requests to be placed on the waiting list
Within 10 working days: planning consultations.
Public site visits and services
Each site will be visited on at least two occasions per week for rent collection, sale of electricity cards, site conditions and welfare issues.

Where an enquiry needs to be dealt with by another part of the Council, authority or agency, we will advise you and if necessary arrange for them to contact you.

Electricity cards will also be available from Ash Parish Council Offices

If formal proceedings need to be taken we will advise you accordingly.

Six monthly structural surveys will be carried out and findings reported to Surrey County Council

We will work with colleagues within Guildford Borough Council to secure the best value for supply of electricity and water.

We will ensure that repairs carried out are; timely and to a suitable standard.

We will maintain and regularly review a waiting list for each site.

(For the landowners whose land has been invaded)

Enquiries about illegal occupation of land

We will log all customer enquiries about illegal occupation of land and arrange for welfare checks to be carried out.

We will contact the landowner and if necessary give advice on the best course of action. Where the land is owned by Guildford Borough the legalities will be handled by Legal Services.

Within an hour of me posting a picture of a pick-up with company logo in a disabled bay with no blue badge (and mention of it coinciding with increased security at the venue in question and a certain group of people arriving) on a relatively small local Facebook group for bad parking I received a friend request and some passive aggressive private messenger messages from the young gentleman associated with the company in question asking why I'd taken a photo of one of his vehicles.

I declined to get involved and simply ignored the messages but am now worried for my life, I've deleted the post in question (and an identical one here) and am now hiding. If I never post again they found me.

Intimidation, I despise how they use it and how effective it is for them, but I can't be arsed with the hassle.

This may be misinterpreted, and not go down well, but I wouldn’t be happy if my wife had ANYTHING to do with “travellers”, let alone have “traveller” friends.
I’d be inclined to suggest that she formed a WhatsApp group with the Taliban, or Ku Klux Klan instead, much nicer class of person.

I'd agree with this. I'm not a fan of the whole "if you know the right person" mantra when it comes to these types. They're all complicit in the crime, the only difference being if you know someone you can get it sorted, but if not then everyone else is fair game.

Also from what I hear if you're "in with the travellers", you run more risk of being caught up in some inter-family feud anyway, they're always kicking the st out of each other over some perceived slight from 20 years ago.

They are more aquantances than friends, they are parents of kids who went to the Nursery where the wife was the assistant manager. They have a house and don't travel, the kids go to school and they have jobs but they do originate from Travellers and have those roots still and contacts.

It's not as if the wife goes out with them and spends time with them, from memory I think the wife put something on FB about our dog going missing and they actually contacted her and said they would help.

I know of a guy who had non travelling travellers move in next door. Fine at first, as they got to know each other, a few little favours were done for him here and there. Then it turned nasty when he refused to handle/store the neighbour's stolen goods.

He didn't go into any detail other than describing it as becoming awful for him and his wife, and they ended up having to move away. I wouldn't want any favours from those types but if it meant getting your dog back... what would you do?

It's still bugging me that I took the picture down but I don't want a boxing enthusiast called Israel looking me up on Companies House and popping round to quote me on some new tiles.

Looks like the vehicle in question is also uninsured but hey ho.
