Michael York is in his 70s now but still looked pretty good up till three or four year ago when he developed a rare blood disorder. The disease, plus the medication, has taken its toll on him.

Cruel trick to play on someone known for his "dashing good looks" I suppose but I guess he's just thankful to be alive.

Me too!

Have you spotted the error at the end though? (OK, we'll ignore whether it's possible to crank a K1? K2? truck up a sand dune and various other things!)

It's set during the war but there's a Land Rover parked in the square outside the cafe.

Whilst we are on the subject..An old feller (ex army) I worked with many years ago told me he was at the top of those dunes with a Diamond T recovery unit, the winch rope was paid out and connected to the front of the "Katy".This is why you will seldom see a bonnet shot although a brief glimpse shows up towards the final scene..

Sorry to go a bit O/T.

I didn't know.

Poor, lovely Michael what a terrible thing to happen to someone but yes I think he would be happy to still be here and he obviously is brave enough to still appear in public.

Poor bloke probably hasn't got too long to live with amyloidosis either. He might well have suffered a fair bit of liver damage from it before it was even diagnosed

(I think....I'm not a medical expert)

Did you koow that lovely Sylvia had a daughter? She was born in 1962 and played Heather McLeod (Mrs. Lambert) in 'Highlander (1986).

She's called Beatie Edney and is 54 now.

Last years pic of her in 'Poldark'...looks like her mum now.

True, but based on the current rate of decay I'm pretty safe for the foreseeable.

Trouble is the rate of decay isn't constant... it accelerates rapidly!

Hugh Laurie. 57. Gawd, he's only 5 years older than me. I hope I don't look that raddled in 5 years time.
