Yes, that seems unnecessary and somewhat cruel. It's a more interesting professional life than many. To be frank, the highlight in my job is a paperclip delivery so sailing the world banging out choonz seems impossibly glamorous.

Thanks. It's been a fun career, no doubt about that, and I've always been secure where I am in the showbiz hierarchy, middling as my position is.

I'm baffled by the illogical accusation that I'd pretended not to know who a soap star is from a show I have never seen, apparently 'to appear all trendy' followed by this attempted personal insult. I know it can be a bit weird on Pistonheads sometimes, but this has been one of the oddest things that has happened to me here.

You don't need to have seen the show to know who a particular person is.
I've never seen the Kardashians but I could pick Kim out in an id parade

Can it not just be accepted that when I said I didn't know who that person was, I didn't know who that person was? What could I possibly hope to achieve by pretending I didn't know who someone was from a photo?


I've spent nearly all of my time out of the UK since 1999. As astonishing as it may seem, they don't have Coronation Street or Crossroads overseas.

I grew up in the days when you only had three channels and you basically watched whatever your parents watched, and my mum watched Coronation Street. I've also heard of Benny and Miss Diane, despite never having watched a single episode of Crossroads. Possibly because Benny was one of Eddie Large's stock impressions. I could probably name a few historical EastEnders characters. This sort of stuff just leaches into you through some sort of osmosis.
