I wasn't sure who it was but clicked the pic posted and it led me to this uncropped pic which shows
Nick's more than middle-aged spread.

Didn't he marry an actress who was also in Heartbeat?

He'll be 64 on Tuesday, same birthday as my Brother in law but he's 10 years older.

Why do people say that now instead of "Dead" or "died"?
He passed. Passed what, his driving test?

"They are dead", "He died" Is it somehow disrespectful to say it?
Because people just can't handle the finality.

They are dead. They died. They haven't passed to anywhere else.
passing (n.)

"death," 1869, a euphemistic verbal noun from pass (v.) in such Middle English phrases as passing of death, passing of the soul (c. 1300). A passing-bell (1520s) was a church bell tolled at the time of a person's death.

pass (v.)

late 13c., passen (transitive), "to go by (something)," also "to cross over," from Old French passer "to pass" (11c.), from Vulgar Latin *passare "to step, walk, pass" (source also of Spanish pasar, Italian passare), from Latin passus "step, pace" (from PIE root *pete- "to spread").
We've had a similar discussion on the 'phrases that annoy you' thread. There are some folk who get very defensive about it all and claim that using plain language is insensitive. Bless.
I have seen a term used now of "Unalived". Not sure if it is because of algorithms on social media stopping people saying it (which is worrying in itself!) or people actually use that word in the real world.

Anywho, sort of off topic, but not!

I always liked Terry Pratchett's use of 'inhumed'

You're right, I can't even blame it on a typo.

Love the blooper in the restaurant scene, where the kid in the background sticks his fingers in his ears because he knows a gun is about to go off!

Whoah.

As soon as I clicked on that spoiler and saw the name I pictured him in any one of the earlier dirty Harry movies and I must say that that picture above just gave my own sense of mortality a fair old poke.
