Has she got/had a pet she was particularly fond of?

If so, commission a drawing of the pet by an artist. Not particularly cheap but very much depends on the artist and how high profile they are. From memory I think mine was about £250.

£250 would get you a 8x10" painting about £400 for a 16"x20" from a PH artist.

A very good artist I love charges £2.78/ square inch for her work.

Well, I just had to sacrifice one of his presents (Samsung wireless charger) as I realised on Sunday (the day before) that I hadn't got him anything for his birthday laugh

So, back to the drawing board for me...

Don't get her a plastic leg and on being asked 'what the hell is this?' follow it up with, it's a 'stocking filler!'

I bought two plastic legs that year, neither recipient was impressed.

This year she is getting a scooter for taking our son to nursery, where we live now he can cycle there but she will struggle to keep up with him. She mentioned wanting a shopping bike for the same job but it would be a heavy pain that she would have to keep it in my garage and she would make a mess getting it in and out. She will probably love it, if not I'll be looking for a cheap shopper in January.

Best advice in the thread - see below for the consequences of not heeding this warning:

These! SkiLogik's lovely, hand inlaid wooden topsheet powder skis.

Since I ordered them, we've found out that she's pregnant! So these won't be getting much use for a while...

Possibly leaving it a bit late to get a commissioned piece finished for Christmas though.

A mate of mine does this, and very well. She was on portrait artist of the year on TV, if anyone wants details I'm happy to post them.

A Ford Fiesta.

Found one that's up for £3200, but I'm going in aggressive and expect to knock the seller down to £2k. Thick idiot. hehe

Can she draw a picture of our rabbit that died five years ago?

She has done commissions for all kinds so if you have a picture I'm pretty sure she could. wink

Spa Days always go down well - probably need to allow for her to take a girlie friend too. Jewellery is usually appreciated - as long as you know her taste......
In all probability she would most appreciate anything - however small - that showed that you had truly *listened* to what she really likes !
