If you enjoyed the ten years is it still a waste?

Similarly if you had a fantastic ten years and then your partner dropped dead, would it still be a waste? If not, how is it different?

to use a cringe car analogy, it's a bit like leasing a car versus buying one. The only difference is what you expect to get out of it. If you lease a 911 for 2 years and then give it back, the glass-half-empty "car has to be an investment" guy would moan that he is back to where he was just before you started. The glass-half-full guy would say wow i had a 911 for 2 years, that was fun.
