Probably another unobtainable purchase. But I really wouldn’t mind a pair of these.

Adidas ZX4000 4D Carbon.

Yes, yes, yes. Whilst I’m not wild about the upper - I prefer the whiter, simpler designs - I’m definitely looking to get some 4ds too.

I’ve heard that their stiffness/responsiveness is very different to the ultra boost stuff, but think it’s just a really interesting and forward thinking production. I love my AJ1s and Air Max as much as the next man, but all the reissues and retro’s the market seems centred around often masks some more of the industry’s progressive designs & looks.

Good call.

I’m fortunate to own a pair of 4D’s (gratuitous pic below with my other favourite pair of outlandish trainers) so can give a comparison.

They are very different to boost, heavier and firmer to be honest. Whilst with boost you feel like you are walking on marshmallows, however overtime they eventually feel like they are bottoming out as the boost becomes less supportive. This is what I have found with my 8 month old daily pair of UB’s Clima’s which still look brand new but can definitely feel the difference now over my hardly worn Oreo 4.0’s. I reckon that the 4D will be a bit more hard wearing with it being firmer.

To add, the uppers on the 4D are a lot more elasticity and are a little less snug too, also there seems to be more lateral movement due to the stretchier knit and smaller heel cup than the Ultraboost’s. The UB’s are by far comfier but they certainly don’t look as unique.

Thank you! That’s really good for me to know. I’ve literally just bought some ultra boost Climas and they’ve remained boxed as I’m in the process of moving them and some other stuff to a holiday home. The thinking is that they’ll be good for living in the sunshine. And so I was looking at to what to replace them with for city life - looks like the potentially harder wearing 4D is right up my street and I’ll order a pair when I’m back...

I’ve also heard that the UBs lose their bounciness, so good that you corroborate. I really like the look of the 4D and your model looks much like what I’ll go for too. Much more subtle colour ways.

  • just had a look on stockx. I love the futurecraft 4D Onix Aero. Quite pricy but looks the business...**

No probs. The onyx seem to be going up on Stockx at the moment, the Inikis and the ZX4000’s that have just come out seem to be a couple of hundred quid less currently.

Just to let you know sizing is a bit weird. A US 10 equates to a UK 9.5 not a 9 as you would find with most other shoes. It doesn’t make the fitment much different though to be honest, perhaps a little bit looser but nothing major.

Oh and size have some different coloured 97/BW’s which are on sale at the moment.

Went in to End yesterday in London. Never been a shop full of self centred, pretentious people and that was just the staff !

One of the reasons I really don't like going into sneakers shops and prefer online. Never been to a place yet where the staff aren't... awful.

London is terrible for it. A shop assistant is a shop assistant regardless of the name above the door.

Worst one was in the Armani flagship store.

Having some shop assistant look down his nose at me because he works in Armani and not Primark.

Get fked.

There's a shop in Cambridge that's a bit up itself. When looking for something, I asked for some help and was told; "I don't think we have anything like that in your budget.". I laughed, left and bought it elsewhere smile

It's funny because no matter how prestigious the shop, the staff are still just shop workers. It's a mistake for them to judge based on appearance.

Most of the time the brand they work for gives them 2 or 3 outfits for free as uniform otherwise they probably couldn't afford to be dressed in the brand. The worst I ever experienced was Louis Vuitton in Selfridges, yes I look a bit scruffy, but I'm not poor.

Some shop assistants have ideas so far above their station it's laughable. Some car salesman aren't far behind.

I was told by my (very attentive and professional) car salesman that they are supposed to quantify you by your shoes and watch.

Now I rarely have to wear a suit, and if I'm in combats and trainers I won't bother wearing one of my Rolex or Panerai, but I'll stick on a G-Shock, which is more in keeping with my outfit.

I have business with plenty of city boys in London who wear suits 5/6 days a week. They are all minted but if they go to buy a car on their day off they aren't going to put a suit on again to do so!

True story. I was there when it happened.

Jose Antonio Reyes (he'd just signed for Arsenal) was shown the door at a Ferrari garage because he and his brothers turned up in tracksuits. His brothers could speak a little English while he couldn't speak any at time. The garage thought they were gypsies.

In the words of Julia Roberts "Big mistake. Huge"!

I've also seen a white bloke with dreadlocks, multicoloured wooly jumper, ripped jeans and purple DM boots pay for a new Porsche Turbo on a debit card on the spot.

It's not only stores that have this attitude whist shopping for a new car a a few years ago I called up a London branch of Aston Martin to enquire about a car they had in stock the chap on the phone took my details and we arranged a time where they'd show me around the car and I could go for a test drive whist they worked out a p/x on my then Lotus.

Rocked up and asked for said salesman man who eventually turned up looked at me up and down and said aaaaahhhh yes Mr [mySurnameHere] your not exactly what I expected!!!!

I was like WTF did u expect.......

oh and to GF point I was in jeans, trainers and no high end watch that day,

There seems to be some sort of deluded celebrity status with some of these sales people that work for well known, higher end brands.

I had the total opposite experience at Aston Martin Cambridge.

I'd actually gone to the Porsche dealer next door but nothing even vaguely interesting there. Figured I'd burn a little bit of time and have a nose around the Aston Martin showroom. I think this was just after the Rapide came out. I was dressed like a tramp, as per normal, but the salesman came over with the usual 'anything I can help you with?'. I told him I was just having a mooch around to burn some time and we ended up having a great chat about cars and particularly Aston Martin. Had a couple of cups of coffee and he even said I could take something out for a drive if I was bored.

I don't think I'll ever want an Aston Martin but if I did, it'd be from there.

That's exactly how it should be.

And it's the reason I've used the garages I have in the past.

An enthusiast today might be a customer tomorrow.

ETA:- And it's the reason I won't use SIZE? again because of how they've treated me on more than one occasion.

They serve the occasional celebrity and then think they move in those circles.

There was an employee at Harvey Nichols that was so rude to a female friend of mine, that I got involved. I was livid.

Her position at the store? She worked part time on perfume counter.

that sounds like the AM dealer in Newcastle as well. The Porsche dealer is very nice too however the Audi dealer inbetween wont give anyone the time of day unless you meet their discerning and misguided expectations.

the Ferrari dealer that used to be just outside Sunderland (sadly long gone now) was one of the best dealers I have ever been to and would happily show anyone/everyone their stock and let people test drive etc...
