Next Wednesday (3rd May) is the day to keep an eye on. Warm air likely to be dragged up from the South.

I hate to say it...but what we really need is some rain. The grass is starting to go brown in places like it does late August!

yes

We have a Japenese Acer out front that usually abhors too much water, but I had to give it a drink this weekend as it was starting to look sorry for itself. Here in Shropshire there's been no meaningful rain for 3+ weeks!

I've just been bringing in the tomato / rocket / lettuce plants as it really does feel as if there'll be a fking frost tonight! In the last week of April FFS!

And whilst I'm bhing about the weather, I'm still waiting for an Autumn storm

Yep, just as I'd jacked up my car and was halfway through changing the pads! I'd even changed into shorts and t-shirt as it had been quite sunny before hand. Stupid weather.

The good news is that the cool weather moves away in time for the bank holiday weekend.

The bad news is it's a bank holiday weekend, so low pressure arrives in time for Monday - you couldn't make it up.

Most of UK will see a fine, but not warm, Sat/Sun, although NW extremities could see wind and rain.

Monday will see periods of rain for most.

Sitting in the garden right now with a final VAT. Shirt sleeves. Not cold at all. Port Solent - ok maritime climate as the water is about 30 feet from me and sheltered from the westerlies by the building.

It's on the up compared to last week from where I sit at 1am.

Changes afoot? Warmer and unstable air expected for the weekend. Warmth and rain to come, thunder chances increasing.

Got quite sunburnt on Sunday putting a deck down in the back garden. Not the first time this year either (well, sunburn, I don't put decks down that frequently).

Sunny today too while tidying up the rest of the garden which frankly looked a bit like the Somme after the works.

I think Puggits warm blast may already be here...

Bring it on. WooHoo!

Don't get too excited - temps turning more normal.

Looks like a brief Spanish plume mid week next week. Not very strong and likely to stop short of the M62. Temps to mid 20s.

Anywhere East coast has been cold this week thanks to the wind off the North Sea - western areas have been delightful.

Berkshire, where I live in the middle, has moved from warm to cold to warm day by day frown

There is certainly a huge divide in the weather lately, it's still cold in Yorks,Lincs and Lancs. I was spectating at Cadwell on Saturday in a T-shirt, thick jumper, coat, woolly hat and was still cold, O/H had the seat heaters on all the way home afterwards to warm up and i've still got the heating on in the house.
Some rivers and watering holes in North Yorks/Cumbria have run completely dry through lack of rain recently and throughout Winter, I walked round one of the reservoirs up there and it was about a metre down from its maximum.
I think i'm going to be out watering the garden soon as it looks really dry.

Already had to water the garden for the last month or so down south. The bigger climbing plants were dying.

Could be some good rainfall up North next week. Low odds down south except for thunder - which is the wrong sort of rain for replenishing supplies.
