Thunder and lightning arrived in Banstead Surrey about 5 minutes after that last poster ,about 25 miles away.

I saw a few flashes and heard a few distant rumbles around Maidstone tonight but nothing much.

Then, a little while later, as I was sitting indoors I saw an extremely bright stroke of fork lightning almost immediately followed by the mother of all claps of thunder.
It set my car alarm off (even the massive storm a few weeks ago didn't do that) and another car alarm a street or two away.

That was about two hours ago and there's been nothing at all since then!

No such action in West berks. Big drops of rain heading up the A34 where it meets the A303, though.

A few flashes were witnessed by us in West Berks - lightning maps suggested they were near Alton!

Sc0tt - BH weather looks to be very much governed by location.

If you're in the SE - looks to be pleasant and low 20s. Northern areas (north of M62 potentially) could get pretty wet and cooler.

Anything South or East of Manchester, should be acceptable weather, Devon/Cornwall too.

Been watching the online BBC weather forecast for our bank holiday target area (Portsmouth-Weymouth) deteriorate over the last few days. Last weekend, it suggested that Sunday/Monday would be wall to wall sunshine and 21-22 degrees, gradually changing for the worse and now forecasting cloud and cooler with showers and sunny periods.

So glad the met office invested in that supercomputer... Should have stuck with pine cones and seaweed wink

Yes, I know it isn't an exact science...

Every day's a beach day! (fk me I got cold yesterday watching the kids in the surf.)

The whole weekend looks to have perked up. I'm fully expecting a mass of disappointment. biggrin

Yep, looking good down here. We will probably stay fairly local as the forecast seems to be showing slightly higher temps here than further south west, and also the benefits of light winds on Sat/Sun for beach barbies. Usual doom and gloom forecast for traffic with the rail network screwed though. Definitely staying local or using the lanes to get about.

Lovely warm sunshine at the moment... WFH day - conference calls on and off all day but shorts are on for the moments in between - like right now!

Crazy sunset tonight, pic doesn't really do it justice. Warm and clear for the last few days and for the foreseeable future. Awesome skydive over the Island yesterday, with perfect views of France and that sthole that sits at the south of us. biggrin

Well, that was an unusually nice bank holiday weekend. Sunny, low wind speeds, 24-25 degrees again today, mixed sun and broken cloud periods.

Tomorrow. 15 degrees and rain!

Dontcha just love the British climate. Thank goodness it was a couple of days late this year compared to normal bank holiday timing, although I guess you could say that the bank hol was early this year given the 31st is Thursday.

It was the hottest August Bank Holiday ever recorded in Reading - at a mere 26.2. Sums up our weather!

Looking forward, the weather looks decidedly boring. Nothing of note.
