"adult length trousers" are they the ones that actually reach your shoes as opposed to stopping above the ankle?
On a man, trousers that are too tight and finish 6cms above the ankle make the wearer look like they are wearing their little brothers clothes.

The recent fashion for no socks and too ankle length trousers is just hipsters pretending they have stepped off their yacht. tts.
Yep, that's my take on it. The issue is, if I buy shoes that are primarily aimed at that demographic, am I going to look an even bigger twunt if I do wear socks and adult length trousers with them?
I can't guarantee you won't look a twunt, but I can guarantee you will look less of a twunt than you might otherwise have done by not wearing socks and ankle length trousers.

A quick google search proves that with the right accessories loafers should always be worn with socks, especially when wearing shorts.....

I've multiple pairs of loafers in multiple colours / materials that I wear all the time and wouldn't dream of wearing socks with ... they don't end up reeking like trainers do when worn the same way
Sounds like you've gone nose blind.

When you wear socks, all the sweat and dead skin cells are absorbed by the socks and are removed in the washing machine. If you don't wear socks, that same biological soup is absorbed by the shoes.

No not at all, and thats the reason many of the casual loafer type shoes have cork insoles that can be taken out, ran under a tap and dont absorb all the sweat etc...

think you do need to get out more wink
I do get out a lot, but never without my socks.

Aha I thought I was going mad but I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks this is a ridiculous fashion.

My missus was watching something on telly the other day when a couple of the oh so fashionable tts on telly came on screen, replete in skinny trousers that finished 6 inches above the ankle and no socks. "Oh look it's that new look that everyone is doing it, why don't you try it" says she. My only response to such a ridiculously absurd question was withering look number 26 which is reserved for those special occasions when she is being particularly dozy.

I admit that she has a much better fashion sense then me 95% of the time but what she doesn't have is common sense, not ALL fashion is good fashion.

As far as I am concerned big bushy beards on men below 40, skinny jeans\trousers, no socks, low hung jeans etc all belong in the tt category as far as I am concerned.

Unless you have a bad diet and hygene feet shouldn't stink out shoes. Wear what you like when. This isn't school. I wear Birkenstock Boston's without socks. I couldn't care less what people think.

I bought some last summer the day before we went on holiday as I couldn't find any suitable flip-flops.

The Toms pretty much fell apart after a couple of weeks so I now just wear them for pottering around.
