i don;t see any issues with the thread, seen a lot worse, seems pretty straightforward to me.
Naming he brand of the bag. The price of the bracelet. Asking men about a woman's watch. Who buys a watch for 2 months anyway? Whole thread is showing off IMO.

Maybe calling him a cock is a bit strong but it's definitely cringey.
One thing I do notice is this though. Why do expensive watches look so bland and cheap. smile
My toes were curling reading that.

It just highlights how some people are fixated with displaying wealth. Each to their own I guess and it's totally up to them.

I wouldn't last more than a minute in the company of someone papping on about wealth and brand dropping without making an excuse to run away.

Is that LinkedIn? Are you really surprised?

At lest it doesn't say 'talent scout' or something like that. That site really makes me cringe with all of the recruitment stuff on there. hehe

What unbearable-sounding people
The watch forum has got really bad over the years. It used to be a friendly little forum about a wide range of watches varying in value, now it's dominated by people just using it to tell everyone they have a new Rolex (to add to their Rolex collection).

It's all brand snobbery with people even linking their Rolex to their other (prestigious) brands by photographing their Rolex in front of their Porsche steering wheel badges. Porsche and Rolex always seem to be together in some sort of brand 'I've made it' nirvana. hehe

Anyone who points it out is jealous. of course.

I like watches and have some high end ones but I don't post in the watch forum on here for the exact reasons outlined above.

The Casio post is quite funny, nice but of reality on the thread.

I love how some watch people really think everyone they meet looks at their watch. I've never worn a watch just not for me.

I don't own a watch so I must have saved myself at least £96000. I must decide what to spend it on if only I could find out which account I left it in.

Not just watches - any thread where people try and brag about wealth.

'I have a shed, but I could afford to go and buy a brand new M4 for cash'

Even if its true, it is absolutely tragic to post things like that.

When people say on here 'I earn good money' and it happens a lot - fk me that's embarrassing! Imagine someone said that to you in real life?

I'm sure there's many more examples as I see them every time I come on here.

Just the other day I saw a thread about a guy who bought an R8 for cash and mentioned it about 10 times in the OP. The whole thread turned out to be an embarrassing willy waving contest.

Holidays are another opportunity for boasting to strangers.

Someone starts a thread saying they're going to somewhere expensive but they post pretending they're looking for tips on where to stay or eat or something.

If people join in with advice. The OP then reveals they've actually been there a few times before and drops in other unrelated boasting about previous holidays that year or whatever,

The actual question in the OP is simply a way of telling strangers they're going somewhere nice, they've been before and they've been to loads of other nice places.

They're not looking for advice at all because they're actually experts on that place and have probably booked the holiday anyway. hehe

The advice often has cringeworthy comments about "asking for so and so" (a faithful servant paid to be nice to you) in a restaurant or hotel or Rolex dealership in the Indian Ocean somewhere.

Then the boasting about flights can start. Looking for advice about lounges or which first class seat people prefer etc etc.

yes

Nothing more pathetic than some Billy Big bks giving it large on the internet about how they are "considerably richer than yaw!". Certainly not the type of person I would ever wish to associate with. Didn't anyone ever teach these people the meaning of modesty, its a rather endearing trait....

Reference to a comedy strip in a motorcycle newspaper or magazine in the late 80's early 90's, hapless driver of reversed Swedish wagon.

I Agree. I know of people obsessed by money and what they have, what others have and the value of everything. It's fking annoying and just pure embarrassing.

I love nice things and talking about nice things as much as anyone. But no one wants to know or cares how you financed them or how you can or can't finance something better. Weird.

Depends on the context, I have said that, well not quite like that but I was wondering what people do to afford stuff I couldn't possibly afford despite not having a bad salary.

I suppose I just find it all in bad taste to discuss such things.

Everyone has a different idea of a good salary, which can just get cringe. There's always one who thinks £30k a year is top dollar and another 'just getting by' on £90k.

And with regard to the affording stuff, this is something I find a bit weird and rude to be honest. It's of no one else business how I or anybody can fund doing something.

For example, 'how have you afforded that car????' (keeping it PH) 'oh my old man helped me out' ' Pah, alright for some'.
It's just rude to ask.

No no no no no no no!!! yikes

You can just imagine the type can't you? 'I don't like to tie myself down, why buy a book when you can just borrow one from the library?'

But actually a fifty year old virgin who lives with his mum and is permanently perplexed that women aren't throwing themselves at him just because he has an Aston Martin. After all, they do at James Bond, and he drives an Aston. biggrin

I tell you what I find cringeworthy. Celebrity culture. In fact its goes beyond cringeworthy, its downright embarrassing and pathetic, but it still makes me cringe so it deserves a place in this thread.

The fact that someone can become rich, famous and successful despite having no actual talent whatsoever (other than being a ). The brain dead morons who worship them and enable this ridiculous "industry". The fact said brain dead morons copy off their idols, and become utter imbeciles with abhorrent, disgusting, narcissistic, self-entitled attitudes. Hardly surprising when their inspiration comes from Geordie Shore, TOWIE, or one of the Kardashian clan or some other non-entity as read on the sidebar of shame on the Daily Fail website.

Sometimes when I look at what we're becoming, I think that perhaps a second major global catastrophe such as the asteroid that wiped out the dinosaurs would probably be a good thing for the planet in the long term. Although personally I'd rather we just wiped out all of these vacuous wastes of organic matter off the face of the earth, and we can get back to admiring those who actually deserve it, those who have talent. While we're on about talent, can we not exterminate Simon Cowell for crimes against music? .

Group hug.

I agree. This is what is so strange about the life of today. Wonder when it all really started? I know people have always followed stars but back then it was the movie idols.Maybe it was created by the papers to sell more by building this 'want' of knowing.

Hate to say it because of the recent murders but the stars are mainly on there to get their names out there. There was a celeb a while back on a TV chat show that told everyone how it all worked (as if we didn't know) and maybe let on more than she should by saying along the lines of....

But instead of saying "I maybe pregnant" would tweet "Is Boots open on Sunday as I'm a bit worried after last nights passion" and that generates more interest. But they don't or rarely actually do anything it's their media outlet that does it all.
