Hello PH's,

I have recently purchased a Nissan 370Z Nismo, 2016 as a weekend driver. It's a wonderful and great car to drive. The only downside is It’s a pain in the arse to keep clean bloody hate British weather. Anyway less about that, the real reason I’m drafting this post is that I want a little bit more mid range torque from my 370Z. One of my sticking points with the upgrade is that I need the upgrade to go unnoticed via the main dealer diagnostics.
As you can imagine I have spoken to a couple of friends and they have said to purchase a tuning box. But one of my close friends said I could install an induction kit or performance exhaust which should give anything from 10+bhp, He then stated that I would have to remove the induction kit if any warranty work was carried out on the car. The only issue my friend mentioned is that Nissan may use a system which can detect you have installed an induction kit and or new exhaust (This could be due to Nissan GT-R’s and etc…. there diagnostics systems may be more advanced than other manufacturers).

So my question is, is there any undetected upgrades I can apply to my Nissan 370Z Nismo, 2016???

Many Thanks
Stuart.

So.... you want to modify a car but fraudulently keep the ability to claim on warranty? Hmmmm. I wonder how this will go.

Maybe ask Nissan if they can help with official parts, but otherwise no. Any modifications would rightly invalidate the warranty on any part it affects.

I can't imagine that any mods would make enough difference, being naturally aspirated the gains are small, it's not like a remap on a turbo car adding anything up to fifty percent extra power and torque, I think Nissan wouldn't bat an eyelid at an exhaust, perhaps have a word with them or nip on the UK 350/370 forum, really good bunch.

I've modified a car and had warranty work done without a issue.

There wouldn't be a way for them to detect an induction kit or exhaust was fitted. However I don't think it would be an issue, fitting an exhaust or induction kit.
But up to you.

Either way remap won't really improve power as such, may just iron out some flat spots. Certainly a plug in tuning box wouldn't work.

No idea about the main stealers in the UK, but i put an HKS true dual exhaust, manifolds, cold air intakes and a larger plenum onto the motor. I had all these changes cleared with Nelson Mandela Nissan Main Dealer here with no breach of warranty, because they recognized HKS modifications and i was not doing any ecu modifications.

Definitely upped the grunt on the stock version.

So, perhaps go talk to the dealer and see what they say, because the 370Z was definitely originally built by Nissan with tuners in mind.

The only way is to have some head work carried out.

They are expensive to tune to get any noticeable power gain, just flog it and get something quicker ?

I had a 350Z and it was ok, I know the 370Z is faster but options are limited and its a few bhp here and there, get a Z4 35i and a remap or soemthing.

As already said, exhausts and remap are expensive for little gain. You're only options to get more power is to go force induction or sell and get something quicker.

The warranty won't be invalidated unless the mod affects the faulty part.
