describing a car as "a nice place to be".
And describing a garden as a space as in "This is a nice space." No, it's a nice garden you divot.I still annoys me. Even more so because I know it's irrational of me to be annoyed.

I dislike lazy clichés spouted by motoring journalists.
"Hewn from granite"
"Handles like it's on rails"
"You feel like an extension of the car"
"Telepathic steering/handling/throttle response"
I'm sure there are plenty more, but that's enough to be getting along with.

"Perfect for heel and toe"
"Dab of oppo"
"Scrubbing off speed"
"Tyres scrabbling for grip"
"Flappy paddle gearbox"
"Lots Of Trouble, Usually Serious"
etc. etc.
Not phrases but the supposition that:
German cars are ultra (nay, uber) reliable
Italian cars will have dodgy electrics but that's character
British cars are st
American cars have cart springs and don't go round corners
Porsche can do no wrong.

When and why did 'railway station' become 'train station'?
Somewhere around 1952 ... I believe it's because you board a train rather than board a railwayBob

I don't have a problem with most of them, "Perfect for heel and toe"
How else would you describe pedals that are perfectly placed to allow you to heel and toe?
"Scrubbing off speed"
The technique of weaving while braking to get your speed down by scrubbing the tyres.
"Tyres scrabbling for grip"
Tyres scrabbling describes perfectly the effect when you try to accelerate quickly in a front wheel drive car
"Flappy paddle gearbox"
What else would you call it, Tiptronic or one of the numerous other names manufacturers give their flappy paddle gearboxes?
"Lots Of Trouble, Usually Serious"
Obviously a Lotus driver then.....

'Made me laugh more than it should'. Really? How much should it have made you laugh? Surely however much you laughed is the right amount.
And the one about spitting coffee on tha keyboard through laughter or surprise. Really? You couldn't control yourself or turn your head? What are you? Twelve?
