all the Es are meant to sound the same

Germans laugh at the english for making each E sound different. However as with most foreign words if you say them properly in english you sound like a massive ponce so people just don't, or they at least anglicise it a bit.
Seems the Spanish pronunciation of Mercedes is the most authentic! merr sedd ehhs

Ze Tchermanns pronounce it more like "Mairrt-say-dess". Even when I lived in Germany, I felt like a massive ponce saying it that way, so I just said BMW instead!merr sedd ehhs

Now there's a word I like as an insult that has fallen out of favour. But you have reminded me of it and from now on (going forward) I shall try and use it more often.Cliftonite said:

Current one:
Is this really the hill you choose to die on?
Seems to be gaining traction as a ph phrase du jour, quite often taken out of context as you’d expect from people who parrot such things.

Seen this a few times myself lately and can’t help but think what a bellend every time.
Another one on here is ‘cognitive dissonance’, normally used as part of a condescending insult by a tit who wants to sound clever. I have NEVER heard anyone say cognitive dissonance in any spoken conversation, ever.
I imagine certain PHers keep a list of clever sounding sayings on their desk beside a box of tissues, ready to insert them at random in whatever sackless argument about fk all they’ve got themselves into (see NP&E for many tragic examples).

It's always used to refer to something intangible - effort, usually. I'm not sure it's possible to give 100% effort, because you need some fortitude for other stuff like breathing, staying upright, talking and so on.
