Hi all,

Baby girl due in November here, first one!

How do you get over the 'fear' that somethings wrong/going to go wrong? It seems to be a common thing that we work ourselves into a bit of a pit of despair on an almost daily basis for one thing or another.

Today is that she hasnt felt any movement for 24 hours, she has only felt movement once before this though! Apparantly because the placenta is on the front this can reduce the movement felt.

Im trying to stay chilled out and telling her that it will be fine, but secretly im feeling worried!

Had plenty of other scenarios like this during the pregnancy and a scan has always confirmed its ok. We had the 20 week scan last Friday so no more chances to see her, feels a little scary!

Sorry for the dump. Im over the moon and genuinely excited, is the worrying normal?

Yes. Get used to it, it doesn't go away once they're out and running around hehe

Congrats!

ETA: but yes, as JK says, if you're worried it's best to check.

If she is worried, then please go to the hospital.
We had a lack of movement one Friday and went to the hospital at 11pm (Baby started moving when we were in the car) but much better to go and check

I think after 28 weeks, movements becoming more regular.(not so sure, please check with your midwife). But yes, if the mum does not feel OK just go and check it, it is perfectly normal. We've had similar situations and went to get checked once even midnight, midwifes also suggested it is good that you come and get it checked whenever you feel worry, that's why they are there.

You can also get a private scan (growth) in third trimester, they are not expensive and really gives a good peace of mind.

We have actually been the hospital for an emergency check up tonight, I'm on nights at the moment woke up at 1600 everything seemed fine but then the missus said hes not been moving a lot today (hes usually kicking all day) so we called the midwife at 1730 to be told go to the hospital (I'm due to start night shift at 1830) so we turned up, on the drive there he decided to start kicking so we knew he was ok but they did some checks anyway, all good.. roll on Tuesday.

Last night shift/shift till the end of July thanks to paternity and some nicely placed annual leave.

Just to echo this - everyone looking after us said to call and go in if mum to be felt there was a change in movements.

Not medical advice but we found that ours reacted to sugary and/or cold foods!

Red alert at the xera household ...

Midwife appointment yesterday said growth seems slow so sent us for an emergency growth scan today. Growth scan showed less fluid and small stomach. So we were referred to the maternity day unit

Sat for 4 hours and then told they were concerned re stomach size and better to get baby out so want to induce the wife..

Wife wasn't comfortable about it all so we said we will come home and go tomorrow morning. They said that's OK as they're short staffed anyway and wouldn't have done anything even if we had stayed

So junior will be here next few days...!

So the little one arrived by C-section (was planned for Tuesday anyway), his oxygen intake was very low though so hes on neo-natal at the moment. Just got home at 8 to be told there is a chance they are gonna send him across to be with his mum this afternoon so sounds like he has picked up.

I was going to go bed now (I was on nights) but you can visit on the ward he is on now but cant visit on the ward his mum is on so taking my sister to see him.

Three weeks into baby no. 2 (we have a 3 year old boy) - bar even less sleep, it's good! I mean, work is a million times easier but we're slowly getting into a routine (and so is baby).

It really is true what people say though, two is another level. I doth my cap to those with >2!

And to the poster who was asking about swivel seats...they are invaluable when your kid is 18 months or more, so much easier to get him/her in/out and not put your back out or break them.

We've got 5 weeks to go until number 2 - it's all been very chilled thus far, so we've added some jeopardy by accepting an offer on our house... without finding the replacement! I'm definitely getting the feeling my wife is in nesting mode so feeling a little pressure - but its entirely self inflicted.

In other related, PH worthy, toddler news my 2 year has now begun to identify BMW. Out and about she happily shouts "daddy car" at all BMW. She's shaping up nicely!

Our little guy is nearly 4 weeks old, but a complete terrror both day and night. We just could not establish a routine, he does not sleep more than 1.5 or 2 hours and quite angry, GP said it could be Reflux or Colic. He hates being put in his cot, or bed (we got a few different options already). He only sleeps on our laps, and as soon as we put him in a cot, he makes a massive drama. I'm almost OK but mother is nearly knocked out. I'm planning to buy these colic drops tomorrow, a colleague recommended those. We tried going outside today too, but made again a massive drama. getmecoat

At 4 weeks I wouldn’t worry too much about how much he sleeps it was about 12 weeks we got a good routine. Could be colic but could also be trapped wind, reflux, a tongue tie allowing air into his stomach (we’ve just had this). Have you got a sling such as a ergo baby? Would this be a solution you could try for the day time as you could get some bits done then. Try and look out for tired queues such as eye rubbing, zoning out, cooing or babling, these were all signs our son was tired and we needed to get him to sleep asap.

Keep going you’re doing a great job!
