Lady B.J.W is now in the 9 month zone. Planned birth sometime around the 20th Jan. We have a 2 year old boy as well (number 2 is also a little chap). I think it's just beginning to sink in...... For various reasons I left it late to have children, but at 44 I feel like I have had a new lease of life - even if that does involve destroying my knees with extracting toy cars from underneath the dining room cupboards.
Planned as in, induced/c-section or that's your EDD?

Out of the sunroof does have it's plus points though..... from a selfish male perspective.

Yep, ring Labour ward - far better than 111 from our experience.

My wife has a severe stomach pain (1 month after birth) and they think it's gallstones. She literally rolls around on the bed in agony, it's crazy.

She did get really bad heartburn at about 16 weeks onwards, had to take daily Ranitadine to cure it (little one was born with lots of hair.. There's a wives tale heartburn means lots of hair hehe)
my wife has the bad heartburn at the mo @ 8 months... think it kind of almost gives them a temporary hiatus hernia due to squishing everything about in there. At least it goes back (unlike my permanent one!).

I’ve had the news a week or so that the Mrs is six weeks into our first pregnancy, it’s a shocker we could be expecting a child together!
Firstly, congratulations to all the new dads I’ve seen popping up in the last few pages, I’ve read so much these last few days since finding out. I hope all you guys and your ladies have a good time with your new arrivals, and I’m a massive pile of nerves at the moment. Hoping it all goes well as I’m hearing all the bad things could happen within our first couple of months!
Secondly, any tips anyone can throw at me to survive the experience and be the best partner to my fiancée I can in this new chapter?

My partner is still really struggling - in real pain from her stomach muscles hurting from a spell of bad vomiting on top of her gallbladder playing up causing bad pain, every movement is painful. This is all on top of the normal pregnancy symptoms so throw mood swings/tiredness/nausea etc etc in the mix.

Doctor said to eat little and often to help keep the nausea to a minimum and allow the gallbladder to recover.

Perfect timing with Xmas as everyone where coming over xmas day for dinner but I don't think she's going to be up for it.

This little sprog better be worth it!!

My wife swore by Nairn's stem ginger oat biscuits. not to eat a plate of them, just have one to hand. Nibble, water, nibble, water. Took 2 hours to eat 4 IIRC, but helped. Ginger stuff helps some mums.

We went for our 4D scan today (28 weeks). Wife has had bad heartburn for a while and has been eating rennies like they are sweets.

Sonographer said our baby has hair on her head hehe
No face pictures though as the baby wasn’t facing upwards rolleyes
We go back next Saturday morning.

Really can’t wait now after spending a few hours with my uncle and his 10 month old this afternoon.
He uses re usable nappies which I like the though of from a environmental friendly POV but my wife couldn’t care less irked she’d rather use whatever is the least energy consuming for her.

Don’t expect the ginger biscuits to definitely work. Didn’t work for my wife. I googled ginger biscuits in pregnancy and there’s a lot of pissed off mums out there who became annoyed because people were suggesting ginger biscuits to them all the time laugh

I should have been more pragmatic. Works for some, eating very slowly seems to help regardless of the food. Nibbling.

Maybe there is truth in the wives tale..

We use Tesco nappies, my wife was a snob and only wanted Pampers Pure - turns out their newborn size are huge on our boy, so luckily the £1.80 for 50 nappies fit best!

I couldn't imagine the hassle in re-use able nappies, and the mess they make.. You feel much better when it's tied up in the nappy bin hehe

she'll have forgotten all of that within 5 mins of the baby arriving... so much so that in a year's time she'll be telling you how much she loved being pregnant and can you do it again!!

iCandy Peach off eBay brand new £500 for the set.
Maxi Cosi car seat brand new £110
Snuzpod £100

Looking for nursery furniture second hand as there’s a particular set that I like which is £1200 brand new, sells second hand at £400.

Yep, we bought Chicco Next2Me, Sleepyhead, Pushchair and stuff (lady gave us soo many extras she bought for it, covers, cup holders etc) Car Seat Isofix base all from eBay.

Kept an eye on the sales, and had Mamas & Papas on Key Word alert on HotDealsUK app too.

It's expensive, but you've got 9 months to get prepared beer

They are yea. I guess my tip would be to not skimp in the things that really matter, but don’t buy things that don’t matter. Sounds obvious but the whole baby crap industry is geared to make you believe everything in column B is actually in column A.

Expensive yes but some online stockists are able to offer favourable prices when compared to the High Street. We are also away to get into sale season too and buying in bundles can also help. A word of advice though..It's worth "trying" the travel systems before buying. We were surprised by the sheer size of some when trying to get them into the back of the car.
