18 weeks in. Seems like nothing to do but wait. Too early to buy stuff.

Any tips on some things to get to make the missus a bit more comfortable?

She's 22 weeks in now and getting big enough where she's feeling uncomfortable sitting certain ways and sleeping in certain positions.

Any of the dads recommend a few things to make things a little more bearable for her as a little treat?

32 weeks here and we bought one of those "u shaped pregnant pillows" could worth a shout? 8 quid in IKEA from memory.

Coming home with mum this afternoon. Let the sleepless nights commence
William Ernest Genuine Barn Find is an excellent name! Congratulations

We're somehow at 5 months with #2. Don't know where the time went, but I must say I'd forgotten what it's like to have a cold-filled baby in the room. One minute coughing like a 60-a-day smoker, the next hacking and choking on something, and then occasionally, just for sts and giggles, going totally silent for what feels like about a minute, but must only be five seconds. Little bd. I love him so.

I bought something called 'Widgey Plus Pregnancy Pillow'.

I thought it would be a one night wonder but it was used for 6 months antenatal and now coming on for 6 months postnatal. Versatile little thing so it is.

It even came in handy whilst in the maternity hospital when I needed a kip on the floor.

Simply referred to as 'Widgey' in the house now.

Yeah another vote for a 'pregnancy' pillow, we've used ours a lot more since the little blighter arrived, so it's a worthwhile investment, we've got this one, quite big and nice and warm

Gender scan at the weekend revealed, we'll be expecting a little girl! All the old wives tales/symptoms pointed towards a boy and we of course believed them, to an extent. I had hoped for a Boy for our first but a Girl it shall be *gulp*.

Everything is as it should be, heard the heartbeat too which was amazing.

Following the scan we went to Mothercare to look at prams...I've bought cheaper cars. Thankfully we both like a pram which is sub car shed value.

Roll on July.

6 weeks and counting for me. It'll definitely be a c-section due to low lying placenta, which I'm happy with.

In terms of baby monitor, we went for this; https://angelcare-baby.com/UK/angelcare-ac517-baby...

Probably totally overkill but it's our first and Mrs AB wanted the peace of mind.

On the talk of cushions and making her more comfortable, I would also investigate a doughnut shaped cushion for sitting on after junior arrives.

Body parts have been stretched beyond what is manly thought possible. We made do with a small neck brace type cushion, but a piles cushion would have been preferable.

doughnut cushion is probably not a good idea, sorry. A stretched thing will only get more stretched in a cushion that shape. If she has any kind of experience needing stitches then it will be agony and possibly stretch the stitches. My Mrs has first hand experience of this.

well it does depend how many kids you have and what ages... travel buggies are not prams, and neither are biggies for slightly older kids, and so on. We have two, and two kids. Missus wants us to get a double buggy too though...

Just a casual reminder for the yet-to-be Dads out there:

If you have a wife/partner who does want the newest/shiniest of things (as mine did), then do go along to a Baby and Toddler type show if they have a big one anywhere near you. We went to one at Epsom Racecourse and many of the big names were there with some mega discounts on their kit

So a pram, car seat, adapters, pushchair part etc, usual cost of over £1,000, was ours for under £800 (generous gift from her mum though...) but we hope to use that for more than one child, and sure if we sell it on we'll still have a good product that's stood the test of time well and daily folding/unfolding in the car etc.

But there is a great second hand market for baby stuff out there, as many others on here have said

Cheers mate that’s on order, we’ve got a little short trip away next month which we’re both looking forward too as a bonus.

Not sure what else I can do to make her more comfortable at home though. Was thinking of booking her into have her hair etc done before we go away in April for a night away in nice hotel and then a big day at aintree races before the national (her choice)

Anyone else's wife all of a sudden started snoring?

Sounds like she's had 15 pints and a curry...

Back rubs (for her). Be positive. Don't be shy to ask the nurses if what you can do to help.
Lots of snacks. Water. Energy drinks. Take a pillow, music, podcasts, phone charger, money for vending machines.
You may be there for hours or even days.

Read up on emergency c-sections. They happen quite a lot and sometime VERY quickly. At least if you understand what can happen you can be the voice of calm and reason for your wife who may be on layers of drugs, etc. It is a worst case, but I wish I had before our first,
