After 2 years of trying and filling out the paperwork to start IVF, have found out that my Mrs is pregnant naturally. Which has come as a hell of a relief as the thought of IVF was causing a lot of anxiety for us both.

She's only 6 weeks in so far, but doesn't feel real. Looking forward to being able to post more here :-)

She's got onto a different form of "No" for when she means "yes" but can't say "yes" yet...
Apparently small children struggle to understand negation.

ie. you say "please don't put your teddy in the bin"

They hear "please put your teddy in the bin" as they understand action "put", object "teddy" and target "bin"... but don't understand that it is all negated by "not" fascinating things, small people.

Not sure if it is true, but makes sense if it is.
I work in the oil and gas industry which is obsessed with safety (and not without reason, but I digress). I had to attend one of the many safety-related seminars we get sent on from time to time and the theme of one particular one was exactly that; stuff like instead of saying "Do not run", say "walk", instead of "don't panic" say "stay calm" etc. The theory was that in a high stress situation like a building evacuation people will lose the negation.

Fast forward a few years and I'm reading books and articles online about helping our kids develop good behaviours and whatnot and reading the same sort of thing. Maybe we don't ever truly grow up smile

Sounds similar to, for example, giving something to someone and saying 'don't drop it' versus 'hold on to this for me' (or similar).

Evening dads. It looks as though Harriet not only has colic but has an alergic reaction to something mum is having that's beings passed through her milk. We suspect cows milk is the culprit which is a bugger as it's in everything haha!

Try oat milk. We had to switch for a while. It's not too bad as a replacement.

I think most places stock it, depending on the size of store. There is a refrigerated version, and a shelf version. Both seem to taste the same. There is even a barista/sweetened/unsweetened versions.

I think Aldi keep it. Asda, Co-op, Tesco, Sainsburys and Waitrose do from my experience.

Due to allergens being in unknown packets of frozen breast milk, we swapped our boob milk for the UHT Alpro Soya growing up milk about a year ago. This stuff: https://www.sainsburys.co.uk/webapp/wcs/stores/ser...

We buy it whenever its on offer, generally a dozen or so at a time because as its UHT it has a unopened life of years.

Having an allergy baby is fun, my daughter is allergic/epipens for Peanuts/tree nuts/sesame/kiwi/avocado/banana/un-baked eggs/crustaceans. Eggs and Sesame are the hardest though.

Cheers guys :-)

Had a bit of a scare over the weekend, with a bit of bleeding and cramping. Went to see an out of hours GP who sent us to the JR and my wife ended up being kept in overnight with suspected ectopic pregnancy. After some scans yesterday it proved not to be the case and a healthy baby and mum. Even got to see a little heart beat on the scan - starting to seem real!

We were the same, trying for many years - both went to see the GP to start all this IVF lark - Mrs went down to part time employment and 3-4 months later... boom pregnant. I hope its mine! hehe

She also had a bit of bleeding early on, which scared us so had a scan at around 7 weeks to be met with a little heartbeat.

Just had the 20 - odd week scan and my little lad flashed his bits as soon as the nurse put the scanner on thumbup - yes we are having a little boy - cant wait for all the toys! He is bang in the middle of all the measurements and is healthy which is a massive relief for us both smile

Just out of 20 week scan now, slightly smaller but still within all ranges, can only be a good thing given the firsts lack of directions to escape!

No bits seen or not seen, so will see on d day!

Hey dads,

Has anyone used cows milk free formula and if so what did they go with? Trying to find some for H but struggling to find any and the doctors were useless just telling us its probably not a reaction to cows milk but hormones, which is bull we think as since kay has stopped consuming cows the symptoms have lessened so there's a correlation there we think. It just means they won't prescribe any none cow milk formula for us and we need some as her weight isn't increasing as much as anyone is wanting partly due to the Mrs supply isn't as much so would like to do top ups with formula to bring that weight up more.

We were prescribed some as our son is allergic not to the lactose in cows milk, but the milk protein, so the usual substitutes weren't suitable as they were just lactose free. We had to get allergy tests done and finally were prescribed this awful smelling formula. I forget the name of it now as it was nearly three years ago.

Yeah really struggled with both my youngest

My daughter was really poorly and unsettled and put on no weight. First we tried Soya alternative, but just as bad. Eventually we were prescribed Neocate and overnight she changed and got so much more healthy . You can see her weight gain graph shoot up the week we started giving her neocate

My son was the same, but we were prepared and got him on neocate straight away

They cut out various things from their diets such as dairy and they have really thrieved and would have been in agaony if they still had it

Its really common IMO but lot of parents arent aware , but neocate changed them from being unhappy underweight babies into really settled happy kids that gained weight as they should

Thanks for this. Did any of your two come out in a rash on their face? This is the main symptom we have at the moment and looks like little spots with some yellow heads on some of them.

Mum has cut out diary all together and we're continuing with the colief stuff but wondering if this was a symptom you saw?

Yeah rashes , horrible nappies , no weight gain and really upset and unsettled at night

I dont drink milk as it gives me cramp, so it doesn't surprise me .

My misses joined a variety of food allergy groups on Facebook and they were a bit OTT but really helpful

My 5 year old can now tolerate dairy up to an extent, but if she has too much she gets poorly, my 18 month year old has no dairy and is doing really well.
