Yeah really struggled with both my youngest

My daughter was really poorly and unsettled and put on no weight. First we tried Soya alternative, but just as bad. Eventually we were prescribed Neocate and overnight she changed and got so much more healthy . You can see her weight gain graph shoot up the week we started giving her neocate

My son was the same, but we were prepared and got him on neocate straight away

They cut out various things from their diets such as dairy and they have really thrieved and would have been in agaony if they still had it

Its really common IMO but lot of parents arent aware , but neocate changed them from being unhappy underweight babies into really settled happy kids that gained weight as they should
Thanks for this. Did any of your two come out in a rash on their face? This is the main symptom we have at the moment and looks like little spots with some yellow heads on some of them.

Mum has cut out diary all together and we're continuing with the colief stuff but wondering if this was a symptom you saw?
Yeah rashes , horrible nappies , no weight gain and really upset and unsettled at night

I dont drink milk as it gives me cramp, so it doesn't surprise me .

My misses joined a variety of food allergy groups on Facebook and they were a bit OTT but really helpful

My 5 year old can now tolerate dairy up to an extent, but if she has too much she gets poorly, my 18 month year old has no dairy and is doing really well.
Thanks for all this it's really useful! i've joined the main group one for now to see if i can find anything there. In terms of the rash was it all over their body? On H it's just on her face around her cheek & eye lash area only and hasn't spread anywhere else, to me it looks like the below picture (not my baby got off the internet) which makes me wonder if it is an allergy as she doesn't have horrible nappies, they are yellow & had one green one today according to my wife, was gaining weight up to today, settled at night she sleeps in the day and has a good sleeping pattern at night with only two times she wakes up at 2 & 4ish. She doesn't cry unless she's hungry or done a poo.

Just a bit confused, i know it can be different in every baby but i thought she might have some of the same symptoms of your baby.

Hey dads,

Has anyone used cows milk free formula and if so what did they go with? Trying to find some for H but struggling to find any and the doctors were useless just telling us its probably not a reaction to cows milk but hormones, which is bull we think as since kay has stopped consuming cows the symptoms have lessened so there's a correlation there we think. It just means they won't prescribe any none cow milk formula for us and we need some as her weight isn't increasing as much as anyone is wanting partly due to the Mrs supply isn't as much so would like to do top ups with formula to bring that weight up more.
We've got two tubs of Similac Alimentum in the kitchen cupboard unopened which the Dr gave us when we were took to hospital 3 or 4 months ago. Our baby kept bringing her milk up and along with the colic I think the paediatrician wanted us to try it.
We didn't end up using it though and she has been on SMA anti reflux since and doesn't really have any issues at all, now that she is 6 months.

Our boy got spotty at about 4-8 weeks. It looked very much like that.

They were just that. No allergies or anything.

Babies get super spotty at times, its just the hormones sorting themselves out.

Allergic reactions are generally more "rash" like, my little ones reaction to a little scrambled egg

Go back to work and delay your parental leave?

Or learn something new? Bake some bread? Do some DIY (badly, so you don't get asked to do it again)?

Found out this morning that we are expecting number 2 in May.

Very excited but also nervous as I was on the waiting list for an operation which I am hoping they can still do so I don't have to wait another 9 months.

I am also going through the worries of how much harder it'l be having 2 children rather than 1. Things are so easy right now biggrin

Congrats!

Depending on the age gap, 2 is either hard or very hard for the first 12-18 months. smile
Once they are mobile and able to play for 10 mins together it gets a tiny bit easier.
Once they both can talk you learn negotiation skills that you never knew you had.
Anything above 2 is lunacy in my view.

smile

Some kids sleep, some don't.

Mine (2 now) goes down at 0730/0800, and sometimes will sleep through until about 0700, but most of the time up at 2/3am for some milk.

Scratching in her sleep is getting worse now though, think we're starting head to toe moisturising after her baths.

Our little girl (9 months) sleeps through 7pm-6/7am.

We think it's a mix of luck and a real dedication to strict routine. We really stuck at it through the early days and beyond and it's paid dividends.

You do need that slice of luck though.

Meh. Mostly luck. We had/have two terrible sleepers and we tried absolutely everything. Eventually they grow out of it.

Our little girl (nearly 1) generally sleeps from 7/7:30pm through to 6:30/7:00am but when teething or feeling a bit under the weather can be up for a couple of hours in the night as well. The last 2 weeks we've probably had 7 or 8 days of sleeping right through and then 6 or 7 days of waking up around 1 or 2am. Pot luck i think!

We're thinking about number 2 at the moment but it does worry me how much harder it will be. Having spoken to a few people, 2 years between seems to be a good age gap so that's what we're thinking at the moment, but that may change!
