5 and a half weeks in and not sure where the time went or what life was like before the little fella arrived. How can 1 tiny person create so much stuff and take so much time? Whats more I don't care that he's taking up the time, I love it!!

Our lad gets gassy and uncomfortable. We burp him and do cycling of legs, patting the back, rubbing up his back but anyone got anything else we can try?
We're exactly the same age and experienced similar things it's just so hard to get her to bring any wind up and she was kicking off between 7-10. The health advisor suggested she's suffering from colic and suggested we try Colief. A friend also swears by it and so far it seems to be making a big difference she's been much much better.

Hey, first time post in here...

The little Miss is now eight months and has out grown her wee baby car seat. We want to go Silver Cross again but looking at the Silver Cross Motion, there's a long list of cars that are compatible and some that aren't. Why is this list so exhaustive? Surely if the car has isofix that's all that matters?
I understand that this child seat swivels and is the list showing which cars are large enough to allow the seat to swivel freely?

Here is the seat we're looking at.

Good Afternoon all,

Been a while since i posted - my Son is now 2 months old and last weekend we had his tongue tie seperation at home, he had severe tongue tie that effected his feeding, NHS waiting list 1 - 4 months. Apparently should have been mentioned when he was born as it was obvious but they chose not too mention it as they dont have the facility to treat it quickly. Pretty pissed off with that. Anyway we have had a slight improvement with his feeds since but my son is still not drinking the amount of milk the health advisor says he should, he gets between 25-28 oz per day he weights 11lb.7oz . My partner is forever worrying that he is not following what the health advisors says, each feed turns into a bit of a battle to try and get more down him.. Aside from this he is very happy chatty and his personality is starting to show. Yesterday it was hot and he was incredibly moany all afternoon.

Has anyone had any experience of their child not feeding and taking the recommended amount that someone says he 'should' be having ? He is still gaining weight slowly and i dont like to stress him out and try to force more milk on him when he doesnt want it.

We had a tongue tie also. Same NHS experience. We actually had to have his tongue cut on three separate occasions. First two at a well recommended specialist locally and the final time a four hour round trip away. It essentially healed up despite us doing the wound disruption exercises etc.

The poor little man could barely get any milk in and none off the breast.

Perhaps as a result he then suffered reflux. We would regularly spend an hour getting 5 oz into him and he would throw it back up.

What worked for us from the point of view of him being able to settle for a little while and also put on weight was a 'little and often' approach.

Just keep offering milk at shorter intervals and let him have what he wants and then stop.

Its early days still as they have to work out how to use their tongue now its been freed but if he's still having problems in a few weeks it would be worth making sure its remained separated.

Definitely, they also become more fun as they get older (I believe that is finite however talking to my Boss with teenage children!). I was out pushing her round the garden in her Little Tikes car this morning before I went to work, she loves going fast in it.....hoping to brainwash her by continually watching Moto GP, F1 etc with her!! biggrin

My little one eats some crisps from a bowl.

She then sticks the bowl on her head and says “it’s a bit like a hat” and giggles like a loony.

No idea where she gets it from...

Baby Mk3 was born Tuesday 14:08 via cesarean.

Went well amazed at how fast they do it and we had a little girl. We've named her Amelia. She was 7lbs 7.5oz.

Came home wednesday after a lot of faffing by the maternity ward. Because she was so breech she was difficult to get out and they where worried about her hips. We found NO ONE communicated at all. I was removed from the ward at 4pm on the wednesday even though i was called to get my wife and baby as they hadn't been signed off by a doctor. In the end after 3 hours (and telling me another 2 times to come get them and not letting them out) they finally let us all go home.

I think all of this covid stuff has made this process and being a dad a complete nightmare TBH.

Baby is doing well at home & i am writing this as i am on night shift so the wife can sleep after having feeding issues the last few nights.

Congratulations dude sounds a bit rubbish they wouldn't let you out. Not sure if they told you this but amelia will have to have an ultra sound in her hips when she's around 12 months (no one told us we just got a letter) to check they are developing correctly and there aren't any issues.

Just wanted to give you a heads up as no one told us and was quite a shock and distressing when they do the scan and say something isn't quite right and don't tell you anything else!

Yeah they checked the other day and have another appointment in a few weeks. Have had talks about a sling to help her legs / hips but again i'm not allowed to go to these meetings as 1 parent, I think i may go to the next one not my wife as she wont be able to carry her lol

Our daughter decided to arrive ahead of schedule, all good and healthy but quite unexpected as my wife went in for a movements checkup and then descended into labor.

Wouldn't let me stay overnight of course cos of covid but thankfully they were out within 24hrs (ward was super busy, they couldn't wait to get her out and free up a bed) and my wife was able to get some proper sleep.

Very relieved the wait is over.

Afternoon all,

Quite scary to think our wee boy is going to be 1 this week. I'm really not sure where that 12 months have gone, or what we did with our time before he arrived hehe

Any tips on a car seat? We've had the Maxi Cosi for the first 12 months but feel he has outgrown it and looking for the next one. Ideally I'd like one that can fit with ISOFIX, and also a normal seat belt. Front and Rear facing, and ideally a swivel to help get him in and out. I've had a good search but not sure such a seat exists?

It seems they do about 3 or 4 out of the 5 things I've mentioned.

firstly you need to refer to this as it is the relevant regulation:

https://www.childcarseats.org.uk/choosing-using/bu...

the group number is the most important bit. The more group numbers a seat can cover, the longer it will last (more adjustments etc) but the more it will cost. If the kid doesn't fulfil the criteria for a given group, they shouldn't be driven in a seat that is configured for that group. Pretty obvious really but it seems many parents don't get it, and the wrong choice can be fatal.

Kids should be rear facing until 15 months minimum by law, and ideally longer than that... some recommendations say 3 years or maybe even up to 5 years. Basically it's a lot safer, but some people choose not to.

We've used this one, it's pretty good:

https://uk.joiebaby.com/product/every-stage/

my recommendation to you would be to cut the requirement for swiveling as it is pretty restrictive - it will cut your choice right down and you'll have to sacrifice something else which might be more impactful.

Final point to note is that if the seat isn't getting removed and refitted all the time then ISOFIX doesn't actually afford any benefits, and some studies suggest it may even be ever so slightly less safe than a belted fitment.

I made an identical switch to joie360 and very happy with it. Though it doesn't meet all your requirements. It has isofix base built in, which is a pro if you don't have one. But no belt option.

We went for this too;

https://www.johnlewis.com/joie-baby-i-spin-360-gro...

Life changing in terms of getting them in now that the little one is 16 months old.

Funnily enough, we bought it on the day the OH found out she was pregnant with no.2 eek

11 weeks today.

We have that one too but had it since she was 12 weeks because of reflux. Note it's the newest version which is worth the money as the release button is on the side where as on the older model it's by their feet so have to drag your hand by the car seat and a ball ache!
