I do have a factory mint 1.9gti in steel grey so I am keeping a standard one too.

The Cossie was built by DJM MOTORSPORT and this was a max power feature car in early 1990. Now runs full WRC suspension from escort cossie, close ratio box and 469bhp with just under 500 ftlb of torque.

My sons and the assortment of their friends in their late teens/ early 20s that appear to live in my house seem to think my Audio Technica LP120 is the coolest thing going.

Either my car or my ski goggles. The car speaks for itself.

The goggles have GPS and a HUD that shows speed, elevation, vertical, piste maps. It can control my GoPro and show replays, show and control the music on my phone. It displays text messages and keeps a record of every day's skiing, as well as lifetime stats, like highest and longest jumps, fastest speed, longest continuous descent. The HUD was a bit buggy when I first bought the goggles, but subsequent updates have resolved the bugs. The battery lasts all day. My best ever gadget purchase.

What an epic dork.

I think that if nothing else - this thread shows the sheer diversity in what people deem cool.

As a lot of this thread I would deem 'good' but not necessarily 'cool' - eg a Caterham

The part of a 1918 Battleship is 'cool' to me though

I have to say my favourites have been the little odds and sods like that, or the bit of hubble.

I own nothing cool :/

my wedding ring, my wife chose it and shows we are together. yes i know, vomit inducing, but i thought i'd lost it at football the other week and panicked like a loon.

my mountain bike and 20-year-old land rover are my cool things to me.

Coolest thing I ever owned was an original Monty Python "parrot sketch" script. I sold it in the mid 90's and have regretted it ever since.

A son in Special Forces.

(I suppose you could argue that, technically, I don't own him).

Nothing at all.

If my flat was to burn down, I'd grab my passport, a book and a baseball.
Passport, I get.

But a book and a baseball? Seems like a panic grab to me. I'd probably go for mobile phone, wallet, and keys. hehe

Perhaps he meant the baseball bat, in case it's a global uprising or some other apocalyptic event. A way of proving who you are and some basic melee weapon would be a good choice in this situation.

Henley's Twentieth Century Formulas Processes Trade Secrets book. Some normal stuff like recipe's for soap but also has recipe's for poisons, fireworks, explosives and booze.

Some of the ingredients you cant get off the shelf today but still interesting.

A kind of "Here's my passport, now have a smack in the head", deal?
