I doubt luck had much to do with it. I suspect you were picked because you were talented.

Fairly cool from a motorsport perspective: A spark plug from Lauda's 76 Ferrari 312T given to him by Niki.
Watching Schuey's first race - even though it only lasted a lap.
Watching Senna fly round Spa on slicks in pouring rain, 1992.

My great grandfathers belt buckle from his WW1 uniform and accompanying shot that fits perfectly into the dent in the buckle. That 4mm of brass saved his life.

Non physical things, (not sure if you 'own' memories):
Watching a meteor shower above the plane whilst below a massive tropical storm with lightning was firing off like crazy whilst flying towards the NW aussie coast overnight.
Watching a whale and calf breach the surface, 25 metres off shore whilst sitting on the beach, beer in hand on Moreton Island in Queensland.
Being taken on Concorde in Oct 87 by my grandma. The sky above was black, the outside temp was -65 and we were doing 1450mph.
Dog sledding across frozen lakes in Sweden.
Visiting Hindu cham temple ruins in the Vietnamese countryside at sunrise and being followed around by a heard of stray dogs. 'What's that massive pond ?' (10 metres from the ancient structures), I asked the guide. 'Oh that's a bomb crater, the American pilots were pretty accurate!'.. eek
Wandering around Machu Picchu for a few hours.
Shinkansen Tokyo to Kyoto, 2016. In fact, the whole of Japan.
Passing my first karate grading.

etc etc biggrin

It helps that (IMHO) the Mosquito was the coolest plane of WW2. (Read a memoir once by a Canadian Mosquito navigator - very interesting. The RAF set up a squadron manned by Poles, which basically ceased to exist after a couple of months. They ignored all instructions, and as soon as they passed the Dutch coast they would turn left and attack Germany, irrespective of their designated target. They all got shot down.)
Amazing stories ! My godfather is massively into military aviation and paid for a flight in a Lancaster in Canada, a few years ago. He recounted it to me recently and his eyes lit up after finally doing something he's dreamt about for decades.

Their must be so many unrecounted or recorded tales and stories from those eras that have disappeared with the passing of the people who had them as memories.

For me it's gotta be this. I've never had so many compliments on a car, which usually are simply "that...that is cool".

32 years young, in almost daily use, ex RAF, and fully equipped for off roading. One day I'd love to drive it down to Morocco. Note 18m old son in passenger seat who also thinks it's super cool.

It's worthless to anyone else but me. I was lucky enough to play for England at youth level at football. I made 10 appearances from U16-U20 and I was in numerous other squads. I was in the under 21's squad for a European championship but I never played.
What years did you play? Did you go to Lilleshall / Idsall by chance? Or was it after they finished that program?
I think off top of my head Lilleshall finished in 1999/2000 time and my age group was the last but one to go through. I didn't attend although I had trials at the time. I played from 1998-2002 for England youth and I was a pro from 1999-2007.

That is cool.

The orientation is stored in the EXIF tag which is embedded in the image (along with a lot of other data).

You need to remove the EXIF info - for example - the GPS coordinates place the location of the images as "The Avenue" on Google maps, and they were taken with an Apple device (iPod touch according to the info but not sure that's correct).

So, rotate the images, and then when saving, there should be an option to remove EXIF data.

"George" - My 1976 DG200, bought with my late grandfather's inheritance and named thus.

A bit ratty around the edges and is getting money spent on him hand over fist at the minute to bring him up to some form of standard. Bought at the beginning of this season and already had some great flights. 3000hr check in a few years is going to cost about 25% of what I paid for him which I won't get back...but whatever.

And a little bit of this:

My little blue aeroplane (Not the Challenger 601 in the background, that's the company aeroplane), bought a year ago because I missed having access to my own aeroplane and had some money to be able to do it. Already been on a number of adventures around the UK and France, including taking me and two mates down to our group holiday in France because it seemed like more of an adventure than driving to Gatwick and jumping on an Easyjet. Actually haven't flown her for a month...need to do something about that...

Do you fly airways with the Robin? The registration seems familiar.

Nope - only VFR equipped at the minute, we changed out the combined NAV/VOR receiver for an 8.33 Radio at the beginning of the year and the DME receiver was shot regardless. There's USB ports in there for GPS's. It gets everywhere though!
