Well according to Rough Guide, this one is the most beautiful, if not the best:

I think anyone who has spent time there will probably agree. https://www.roughguides.com/gallery/most-beautiful...

I grew up there, left at 24 (ish) and since seen far more stunning places in the world. Lovely parts yes, but the most beautiful in the world? Come on. Most of it is very baron wilderness up north.
Typical that the UK has some old aristocrat hanging on to vast swathes of the North. jdw100 said:

Some friends of ours went on holiday to Norway and lost weight as they couldn't afford to eat.
Sounds great.
I don't know why so many seem to think the UK is crap in some way.
I spent a week in Alesund, doing some safety course for work, ten years ago. The bar over the road cost £18 for the cheapest thing on the menu, a burger. Pizza joint next door wanted £25 for their cheapest pizza. Sounds great.

Re Norway... it's an exchange rate thing.
I was there in May and it was stupidly expensive, but not for the locals, who have a really good standard of living... and decided (2017) that they had the 'best' place to live in the world.
It really doesn't matter how much PH knock Norwegians and their exchange rate.. they are happy with their country - unlike most folk in the UK [apparently]

Lived in seven countries incl UK and have been in Canada for many years. There is a lot I like
- Decent society with generally moderate politics and relatively little extremism.
- plenty of opportunity
-access to some of the worlds greatest scenery both here and the US next door. I do not want to live in the US but it’s only 90 mins drive to the border and I keep a winter house in Arizona
-endless space in all directions for driving and lots of empty roads.
- I like the four seasons including winter anyway.
- it’s fairly non violent
Best country in the world ? No idea but it works for me.

Not sure where in Canada you are and appreciate that there can be wild variations in climate, but I have quite a few mates in Toronto and visit regularly as a result. Always strikes me that there are really only 2 seasons in that Spring and Autumn seem to be extremely fleeting! Mates there at the moment are basking in 30 - 33 degree heat and yet in a few weeks it will suddenly be -5! Similarly I have been in April/May before and frozen, whereas other visits at the same time I have been sat in a T-Shirt in 25c.- Decent society with generally moderate politics and relatively little extremism.

I've not been to Canada yet but this is exactly how I imagined it would be. Thinking of Toronto next year. Mrs Toon works with a woman from there and has a big list of great stuff to see and do if we go. - Decent society with generally moderate politics and relatively little extremism.

Toronto actually...it does have a Fall and Spring is quite mild. Climate has changing actually and we had virtually zero snow last year. I travel a lot so the variations are not a huge issue for me...RDMcG said:

Aha then you have had it very good so far this "fall". I was last there about 10 weeks ago and it wasn't as hot then as it is now. I shall have to keep an eye out for your plates when I am in town.
