Toffee? Oh dear, has it been reduced too much old chap?

(Says he, trying to sound knowledgeable about the intricacies of marmalade production)

Yerst. The year I made it too thin I decanted it all back into the pans and boiled it for another hour and a half. That worked. Cleaning the jars and various other preparations were a pain but it worked. As to going the other way and diluting it I'm not sure. Maybe a jar at a time when required?

Hold on! That's it! New! Marmalade Concentrate - dilute as necessary.

The scene is to be captured by teams of nuns on the Bolleaux Tapestry.

Oh Bolleaux.

Dreadful setback, this over-reduction business. The Marmalade & Buttered Toast Trolley was nearing the point of commissioning but we'll need to delay that now until the situation's resolved.

I found these links, not sure if they're of any help?

I do like the suggestion of adding a drop of whisky to it. Bobberoo might be the chap to approach on that front, he generally has a couple of hundred gallons knocking around drink

Now then Dicky, you wouldn't happen to be distantly related to one P.Bear Esq would you? He of the railway station moniker? He's the only other being I know with such a serious marmalade addiction!!!

Could you not serve it in slices as some sort of after dinner sweet Dicky?

I just googled "Marmalade" and discovered it hails from Scotland* ( previously called the Gaylords, but went on despite this handicap to score major pop success with Reflections of My Life in the 60's.

I am now nearly in my 70's, so there may be a follow-up?

* Adding that whiskey would be not inappropriate. smile

Well that's novel, the Rover passed it's MOT last week, albeit with 7 advisories, the Focus passed today with just the one, result!!! clap
The same garage quoted £467 to treat the rust in the front wings/sills on the Focus and tidy the paint up, yesterday I backed into another car who was backing out at the same time, we agreed it was 50/50 and went our separate ways, her with a scuffed bumper me with a crack in mine, I asked the garage to quote for a repair on it and they are only charging an extra 2hrs labour to plastic weld it and spray the whole bumper!!!!

I recall taking an ageing XJS for an MOT some years back.

'It's pretty typical for an XJS of that year Bomma. There's just one part that needs replacement for another year's ticket'

'Oh, which part would that be?'

'The navy blue bit in between the front and rear bumpers.'
