What was the bartender's reaction when you asked for a Black Russian and Snake Bite? And did he have a glass big enough?
No, no, Dicky you misunderstand, I had a snake bite, the black Russian didn't drink as he was the one trying to deal with my snake bite, an entirely sordid a fair to be honest!!

The Black Russians didn't support the Tsar in 1917, is that it? But were plagued with venomous snakes?

My Russian history is a bit hazy.

It's all a bit hazy to be honest, but there was a small group of us out frolicking with the locals when a huge venomous snake (it may not have been either of those things) bit me on the derierre, due to the location of both the bite and us no one wanted to suck the venom out, luckily one of the locals knew a doctor (he was really a vet) who for a small fee (all the money we had or one of the local girls) would clean the wound and remove the venom, It's at this point where things started going wrong when he insisted we all smoke a pipe to help with the healing process and proceeded to undress, needless to say I tried to leave but due to the snake bite and "herbal" pipe I was in no fit state, the last thing I remember is a local chieftain offering to sacrifice a goat, the black Russian chap insisting on a virgin and two of our group carrying me away with my arse hanging out!!!!

Never been to TGI’s. Used to be one near us but it closed when they decided to redevelop the site it was on.

Ones I see in London are always busy. Are they any good?

Today has been rectifying overheating on an old Clio I use round the field to teach nephews to drive it rarely gets out of second and gets well thrashed. Teaching a 15yo handbreak turns yesterday he says ‘Top Gear said handbrake turns are the art of a Gentleman, why is that?’ I replied if you get it wrong you just look like a tt.
Then onto project Vixen fitting inner wings so if it’s wet before the rolling road on Wednesday it won’t muck up the engine getting there. Then Project Tuscan where I’m stumped as half the electrics suddenly don’t work.
So, back onto the Clio to cut the exhaust off as it’s been knocked about so much it’s dragging.
So that’s what I’ve been up to.

If you're after a noisy exuberant atmosphere, steak/ribs/burgers then yeah they're good, not particularly cheap, but food's good and a lively buzz!!!
Sounds like you're having a fun time Pushfit, electrical gremlins are never easy to sort out!!
Funny you should post that picture Dicky as we pulled out of TGI FRIDAYS today there was a car parked opposite with the registration TO51 NOF spaced to read TO5IN OF it rather made us laugh!!!

Hello chaps and peeps ,been a while and much has happened.

Sorry to hear of Bomma's double bereavement ,my father also passed away yesterday afternoon.

Since him going into hospital 3 weeks ago ,there had been a few calls to family to get down there as he was very poorly.

Yesterday ,at about 3.30am the call came again, some of the family got down there and about 12 hours later ,he breathed his last

and passed away peacefully.

I wasn't able to be there as I went on a road trip ,returning at 9pm last night and I rang both my sisters from the waterside in Dover.

On Wednesday at the hospital I asked sisters whether I should go to Germany for 2 days with dad being close to going and they

said only I could make the decision ,so I went as I had been planning and looking forward to it for weeks ,if not months.

That is all ,everything is fine.....frown

Sorry to hear this Peri, imo you did the right thing by going on your trip as life goes on.

I expect your Dad would not have wanted you all loafing about & in limbo.

I hope he is now in a better place.

This mildly amuses me.

Here's a pic of Fabio the FIAT in Essen.

Total miles over 53 hours was 1168 ,including diversions ,intended or not.

Fabio the faultless FIAT.

Today I got to see a large (very random) selection of classic cars driven with enthusiasm and a wide spread of ability whilst marshalling/timekeeping on the north yorks classic rally. Highlights included a very enthusiastically driven merc 124, an absolutely gorgeous sounding Sunbeam Tiger and my prizewinner for most inappropriate rally car, an automatic xjs (I think it was a v12 but I`m not 100% on that)
Most unexpected car was an A registered Nissan Stanza! They were crap and rusted badly back in the day, I cant remember having seen one on the road for at least 10 years. No photos unfortunately as I was too busy.
