It's very nearly midday chaps, has there been a ban on posting Trivialities before midday? Have you all gone to the pub, AGAIN, and left me in charge? confused

A distinct lack of trivialness for me today. I have saved an SLK from an inglorious end. Said car was sold to me to break but I saw beneath the green slime and cobwebs a decent car hoping to emerge again.

Just been looking at that Chateau de Savigny - Les - Beaune, WOW that's an interesting place!!! I take it you can pay to go inside and see the collections? 560 miles each way give or take, how long did it take you Peri?
Not sure on the 560 miles but total miles for 2 days 8.5 hours was 1263 .
Route was ,Surrey ,Dover ,Calais ,Mulhouse ,Beaune ,Dijon Prenois, Nuits St George's ,,Calais etc.
Cité de l'automobile or French national motor museum aka Schlumpf collection in Mulhouse then the main attraction was the Abarth collection in Beaune but I looked at most of the other stuff too.

One thing I didn't look into was how they got 35 cars to the first floor, also the motorcycle collection was also upstairs too.

From there a short drive to Dijon circuit on D roads, equivalent to small English B roads ,had some fun on them, especially when a Ferrari 512 Boxer gave Chase for the final couple of miles.
Tour Auto visited the circuit on Tuesday, some awesome cars entered.
Then found a spot to watch them in Nuit St Georges on the road.

As I left this village ,sitting at lights,I see something coming up behind.

This.

The driver gave an appreciative thumbs up to Fabio and I jumped out for a pic.
Loving the Flat Eric post too from the other fella.

Absolutely superb Peri!! The 560 miles was from where we live, Southampton, to the Chateaux, going to show Mrs Bobbers the pics I found tonight and see if I can convince her it's a good trip!!!
This rescues SLK, is it yet another one or one you'd already bought Dicky?

Could well have been asking 'What do you need to imbibe before buying an Aston?'

Half a litre of Absinthe. By God, it's a lovely old thing. I'll update if there's any progress, it's very much a head and heart business at the mo.

My heart's a good furlong ahead.

Lovely. They were the first of the new generation of cars which were hand made but not bashed out of sheet aluminium. Although the newer cars are associated with Gaydon the original Vanquish - or certainly the early ones - were built at Newport Pagnell.

Say if you know all this, I can go on for hours.
Please carry on old chap, I know bugger all about them. Other than I've always loved them and wanted one. Especially a Vanquish. I'm in a very fortunate position where I could actually own one.

Yes. The Mondeo 'Building Blocks' engine. The individual cylinder arrangement could be made in any form you wanted - V2, I4, V4, I6, V6, V8 anything you wanted. In principle at any rate. AML voted for V12. It suited the DB7 as its XJS roots were V12 already.

Battert asked for a supercharged straight sixteen with a dog clutch but Ford declined.

It was for the third prototype ride on mower which is languishing engine-less in the large barn.

Check the Aircon thoroughly chap.

My Old Man has a 2002 DB7 & the A/C took a vacation a few years back.

He thinks when they made the thing they started with the A/C & built the car around it!!

I’ve never seen my Dad cry but I reckon I may have done the day he had to pay for the repairs...... 4 figure bill apparently & that was with a specialist.

Been rebuilding the old beast and trying to slip main bearings in without removing the crank. The oil pump pickup is loose on the pump so I looked it up on the google forum. There’s all sorts of advice from one chap including the very issue. ‘Don’t leave it loose or it will suck air, causing irreparable damage etc etc etc’
Well I have news for you ‘Bigboy49’ the bloody pump is located at least 4” below oil level so couldn’t pick up air Iif it was missing.
So
Beware of Internet forums where people spout a load of old bks

Oh, wait....

Don't worry, Jim, Bomma will strip all that out. He says he won't need it in his track day car.

Watching a documentary about Jeff Beck on BBC4. Nice to hear professionals admiring one another's work. Guitarists in this case, for those not familiar with Jeff Beck. Guitarist and Hot Rod builder as it happens.

I'd definitely press for the higher salary in that range. There are principles at stake.

Monday getting there.....confused

To be fair I'd settle for something in between.

Push for the higher end though, certainly.

A Flat Eric?

What do you mean a Flat Eric?

frown

Do you see how just one thoughtlessly applied indefinite article can ruin a chap's day?

I mean, you don't say a Father Christmas, do you? Or a Tooth Fairy?

Ruin a chap's day.
Sincerest apologies!

I actually had to purchase small Flat Eric for my god daughter, as I was going to lose the original to her otherwise!
