A bit council (Vol 3)
Discussion
Has MoneySavingExpert been mentioned yet?
Specifically the Consumer Rights forum - http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/forumdisplay.p... (or "How Much Compo Can I Get) and Grabbit while you can -
http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/forumdisplay.p... (It's free, so i must snatch as much as i can whether I need it or not)
Fair play to MSE for creating a business on selling stuff via affiliates to the financially inept. Martin Lewis is on a pedestal as some sort of Financial Guru, where the reality is that he is a journalist and internet marketer who has big team of researchers behind him.

My wife (an IFA) hates Martin Lewis with a passion. He has no qualifications, yet spouts all this advice that people then take as gospel. Some is good, some is blatantly obvious, some rather dubious, but as he isn't registered, there is no come back on him. He is long gone? He flogged it to money supermarket or someone and think it is now like Virgin where Martin is the face of it and pops up now and again, and rest of the time he is spending his millions in the company of his model wife.Specifically the Consumer Rights forum - http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/forumdisplay.p... There are a lot of vocal critics of him in many industries, and as much as he comes across all nicey caring and doing the best of others,he is utterly ruthless and self-absorbed. He has taken out many, many lawsuits against people, and I've had a run-in myself with him over a plagiarised web tool. In the end he agreed to rename his copy of what I developed, but he was dead set on trying to bankrupt me, and another guy on a similar tool on legal fees. He still has last word on the site, as chair person and founder, but has a puppet Editor in Chief in place - https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/site/editorial-c...
He also has a rather dubious charitable fund that was run by him and his father, and depsite having lots of assets, it didn't pay out much. I lit a blue touch paper a few years back on the issue which soon prompted this - https://blog.moneysavingexpert.com/2010/12/16/im-l...
Of course all of his sycophantic followers thought he was being gracious and generous, but read between the lines of the journalistic spin, it was clear he was trying to distance himself from it all.
Likewise, when he received a huge payout for the site, he promised a chunk to charity. That never happened, and when again it was challenged in public, he put his magically spinny words to good use - https://blog.moneysavingexpert.com/2015/02/02/what...
After dealing with his solicitors at length, I was slightly shocked, but not surprised to learn that they specialised in DMCA takedown notices. It seems he requests a LOT of pages to be taken down. Just try to find anything negative online about the guy, particularly around Icelandic bank recommendations, hidden affiliate links, his advice on pension annuities, the original MSE charitable foundation and undeclared business promotions - they are out there, but few and far between.

His website is not perfect, and neither is he, and nor is his advice 100% right, and the concept is very similar to several big US websites that were around years before... but, on balance, his website provides world-class money-saving tips in a very user-friendly format. He's saved ordinary folk tens of millions over the years. Know someone (a silly spender) who cut their household spending by -50% (cheaper utilities, shopping, etc.) and saved thousands just by surfing his site for free.
