Tasteless? Absolutely.

'Council'? Don't be so ridiculous.
I think hes saying its council to share a ...ahem... public car park, rather then have your own car park??

In this thread, everything you consider to be beneath your own lofty standards = council :P (none of it is taken too seriously).

Oh my god. I’ve been posting my thoughts on a publically available information service.

I thought only Tarquin and Jaqueline could see this.

I must be Council!

In the dim and distant past I worked for Carphone Warehouse, they were responsible for the 'take a phone contract and get a TV/DVD etc' offers. We used to always try TMobile as that's the only credit check they'd pass

Can you get any more council than this, women in my Village got power of attorney from her Dad'S money and then went and spunked it on ''gifts to herself that included cash, a holiday, theatre and concert tickets and spa days. ''

Looking through her Facebook went to Vegas and a status quo .. Got three years.

you know when you think you've heard everything ?

Just listening to a colleague discussing a tenant, whom has returned a food parcel, because " the contents are not to her liking" !

remember my tale the next time you hear about a Universal Credit person "starving" !

Using 'whom' and 'yourself' wrongly, especially in a call centre type phone conversation = council

Not to mention the inconsistent capitals at the beginning of his sentences. Council as Greggs I say.

Also he's assuming that the tenant required food to be donated, they could very well be able to afford food for themselves and would rather have the charity basket go to someone more deserving.

Whilst, on the face of it, you might be making a fair point and can congratulate yourselves on competing for the smug-irrelevance-of-the-day award, you ought to bear in mind that austinsmirk is one of our very few bona fide experts on the Council world and all of its charms, so be careful who you criticise. His contributions are much appreciated and we don't want to deter him from posting.

Yep, they echo a fair bit of what I hear from my wife who also does a bit of work in social housing and used to be an EHO many years ago.

Some of the tales from those days involving pretty extreme council behaviour are almost as good as the ones about rotting corpses becoming one with the sofa they expired on, exhumations at dawn in December in misty graveyards and being showered with cockroaches.
