Why do all these sorts of people have autistic children..?
Because parent can then be "full time carer".
I don't know, but I have a deep suspicion that there will be benefits involved, quite possibly motability cars?

I noticed on the news a couple of days ago that autism might be included in the expanded lists of qualifying conditions for a blue badge - I can see an veritable explosion in diagnoses in the future amongst the lower orders.

Park anywhere free, can be even lazier, allowed priority disabled access at places like Alton Towers etc etc. Winner winner, chicken dinner.

ps. Vimto is not council.

Just wait until they scream and shout their way to Blue Badges for ADHD. Councils will have to repaint car parks with 50% of spaces showing a wheelchair.

How does autism affect mobility? Also, presumably people with dementia don't drive so their inclusion in the BB scheme means they have mobility problems - even when accompanied? Stupidly I assumed being allowed to park near the destination was so that people with physical mobility difficulties don't have to walk far. Neither dementia nor autism should make walking difficult.

I can only talk for my daughter, who is 11, other autistic people may have other issues.

My daughter gets neither a blue badge, or motability car, but I can see the sense in a blue badge.

She has no road sense, and knows no fear, think the road sense of a 2 year old. Now I can control, and restrain her, but my wife is in a wheelchair 70% of the time, and crutches the rest of the time, so couldn't stop her running across a road if she decided to take off.

Parking closer to a shop, in disabled bays would be helpful (incidentally, my wife is eligible for a blue badge, but got fed up of people, mainly older, abusing her for being too young!! to be disabled, and 1 even called the police and said we must be using a stolen badge) so they are more trouble than they are worth to us.

So I can see where they are coming from, but a blanket allowance of a blue badge for all autism seems overkill to me.

Thanks cjs racing, I really didn't know why but in your family's case.], I agree, it might well help. Similar cases in the dementia area may well exist.

It's been said before, but smokers attached to a drip outside hospital. Why, just why?

I took my youngest for an appointment today, and the rain had confined the smokers to the dry space under the entrance canopy. There was one on a drip, one in a wheelchair, and an assortment of unhealthy-looking ne'er-do-wells all puffing or vaping away right outside the doors and in front of the 'smoke-free-hospital' signs. Dirty chav losers.

It's Stoke. I lived there for 10 years, so I'm a little desensitized to the "quirkiness" of the place.

Had a rare foray into councillista central this afternoon to visit a "sales lead" - almost full council bingo:

- New astra, 2 kids seats in the back..... yep "mum's" i.e grandmother's who doesn't live there - mobility car".....wonder if she's ever seen it....??
- Hugely disproportionate sized TV with Sky box wotsit
- Scruffy unwashed half dressed runt of a Dad
- Sow = mother
- Awful tattoo's.... multiple - full forearms and neck ones...
- Dole pole gathering dust
- Smelly Vivarium
- Offspring ..Kayte & Karla
- Scent of chip fat pervading throughout
- Enormous vape thing x 2
- Jobs? - er no....

Needless to say "lead" = waste of my time!

Before I get too judgemental - no swearing at kids and they obviously love them to bits and total absence of the council terrier - felt a bit cheated!!!
