It's much older than that; it's just that in these offended times we live in, people have only now decided to whinge about it.

Go back and watch Open University TV programmes from the 70s and you'll see beardy science and technology types use it to frame background information ahead of making their point, all the time.
Finally someone understands what "so" means. Far too many people don't know it's actual meaning and just assume that it is an Americanism when used correctly. So some people correctly use it as a conjunction to include previously supplied information (or to avoid going over it again).
Indeed, but very rarely (if ever) would it be appropriate to start a discussion or answer to a question with such a conjunction.

As a laugh and purely for research, I downloaded the app and tried to see what was around locally and it looked more like a place to shift shop lifted items.

Surely Shpock isn't Council?

The adverts show it to be populated by upper middle-class hotties wearing shorts.

Came across a lovely screaming Mother who was telling her 15 year old pregnant daughter named Ellesse to hurry the f*** up. Lives in social housing, long term unemployed, ten year old Fiesta ST and of course the usual dysfunctional off spring.

Stupid tart. Another customer has a word with them, why should the pub then give her a refund? Anyways, it appears that the establishment have a very different take on who was at fault!
