The old town in Faro has some sophisticated bars and restaurants, also Rua do Prior can be good, but as I recall, Thursday nights seemed to be students let’s go nuts night there.
Albufeira is chav city, at any time, although you can find decent restaurants if you look around.
My friend is the chef at this new place in Albufeira - https://www.tripadvisor.com/Restaurant_Review-g189...

Its right in the middle of the old town, which is full of awful eating options. This place is superb and getting a lot of great reviews. Its tiny though , i think maybe 20-25 seats so if anyone wants to try it I'd recommend booking.

My mum works with a girl.

She is pregnant doesn't know who dad is. Bf she is with doesn't want to know about. Ex bf who beat her says he will stand by her and look after them both.

So fking sad and council.
I can beat that.

Wife's friends daughter, she's a bit of a loose cannon, deep down a lovely girl but for some reason she just ends up doing the wrong thing.

First child was a product of 1 of 3 guys (2 of them, 1 night stands), 2 of them agreed to a DNA test, one of them is the father (one of the 1 night stands), he has paid what is necessary and plays an active role in his daughters life but doesn't want to be with the mum.

She ends up on benefits but pisses the money away on fake tan, expensive chavy clothes etc so her parents (well mum and stepdad) pretty much pay her keep and rent (they both have good jobs, own their own large house and are generally respected members of the community).

She gets with a guy who has 2 other children who he isn't allowed to see; court orders, this should set alarm bells ringing, however "he's changed" (heard that before!). My eldests boyfriend knows of him from his past; drug dealer, but doesn't know if he's still dealing.

She has a baby with him and all is rosy and has been for the past year or so that they've been together.

This summer the wifes group WhatsApp chat of 4 (wife included) friends gets a text from said girls mum, saying she'll have to cancel the weekend away, as things going on at home, daughter has moved out of her flat to be back home, there is a court case looming for drink driving relating to the boyfriend and the Police are putting a domestic abuse case together against the boyfriend.

Mum of chavy daughter pretty much hadn't been heard from since this summer.

Council and quite sad.

Sounds good, hope it takes off for him, the places that we always went to were on the road going north out of Albufeira, toward the N125, maybe Rua Manuel Texeira, maybe Estrada Montechoro, there was Churrasqueria Torre, and Restaurante O Poente, don’t know if they’re still there, haven’t been for years now, not likely to go ever again.
Life’s too short to put up with the people that flock there to watch Coronation Street, EastEnders, and Emmerdale on TVs in Brit styled bars.
I’ll put up with Carcassonne, Toulouse, and Perpignan, in France, the people are nicer, and I can handle the language.

Some great pictures from her very public Facebook profile, which suggest that this incident wasn't as out of character as the courts were told.
I wonder if she can be hired for dinner parties and corporate events- she'd certainly keep it lively.

I'll never understand why you'd travel thousands of miles then not indulge in the cuisine and customs of your chosen destination.

I'd have no customers if these people stopped acting like this.

I've dealt with a girl who had six children. all six had different surnames, all of whom were one of the big "estate" names

eg smith- he's a hard man
jones- he's a drug dealer
brown- he's a scrap man

and so on.

Some people just want a warmer version of home. As long as I know where those places are, I can happily avoid them.

Most UK holidays are council, but not all council holidays are in the UK.

Also, buffet breakfast at a hotel... Council.
What sort of drugs are you on???

Try walking, mountain biking or similar in Snowdonia just as one example. Very much lacking in council the last time I checked. I suspect it says more about the sort of person you are if the places you've been in the UK are council destinations.

As for buffet breakfasts in hotels being council, I take it you've never travelled anywhere on business? The last thing I'd want to do is waste extra time in the morning waiting for table service.
Clearly not the same drugs you are on... How long ago was this post?

You clearly didn't read my post, I didn't say all holidays in the UK were council, just most. But yes, mountain biking as any kind of holiday is council. You may not think it is, but everyone else does, especially the people you're holding up.

Also yet to find a breakfast buffet that isn't council. Given that you think mountain biking is a good holiday you've really shot yourself in the foot here.

Further more, if I'm travelling for business (which I've had to do quite a bit in the past) then someone else is paying for it... So you're damn well right I'm going to a nice sit down restaurant to have a table service meal billed to the client. If the client will not meet such basic requirements, then good luck finding someone with my level of skill who'll do the same job.

In fact all my previous jobs have stipulated I'm not permitted to work more than 8 hours when working away from home as the "reasonable overtime" in most professional contracts clause goes right out the window and some hideously expensive overtime comes into it. I also got paid for flight time, regardless of if it was in or out of business hours, once again, see the part about the client above.

If you find you're pressed for time when working away... it's either poor planning or you need a better career.

Mountain biking in Snowdonia isn't remotely council. Neither is a week in a cottage in Skye, or hiking around the Peak District, or kayaking in the Lake District, or camping the North Coast 500.

Also, 5* hotels regularly have buffet breakfasts.

You sound fun.

But in a special universe where 'fun' is synonymous with 'like a prick'.

excellent Radio 4 reference !

Who doesn't like a breakfast buffet ?!! we stayed in a lovely 5 star hotel in Spain this year (am I council ?) and it had a fantastic restaurant. we loved the breakfast buffet. Who doesn't like having at least 7 different breakfasts and 12 coffee's by 10.00 am on holiday ?

bloody weirdo's.

mountain biking holiday- I'm there- I love cycling. Or walking, caving, mountain climbing, skiing, sailing, kayaking and so on. What a great weekend/week away. even better with a breakfast buffet. Mmmmmmmm
