I sent the article to my son, who lives in Toyama - he disagrees with the bit about Japanese KFC being nicer, at least as compared to what we get in the UK. As he's currently in California for a conference, he's promised to compare the taste of US KFC too MartG said:

One of the original Big Mac places in Chicago is big on nostalgia with lots of memorabilia adorning the walls.

USA KFC is much better than the UK. You get to choose the type of chicken (dark meat, white meat, mixture etc) plus 2 different coatings (crispy or normal). I don't think you can even get fries as a side, it's all mashed potato, 'biscuits' and vegetables.
