When I left Macclesfield this morning the weather was foul. Wet, windy and cold - so I wore my heavy wool overcoat and thick socks (with a 3 piece suit)

fk me it's boiling down in EC3 - got a full sweat on walking between meetings.

Meanwhile, it's snowing in Florida...

A few years ago when driving to work, I heard a weird sound like sand being thrown at my windshield and saw tiny specks flying around.

Sleet.

I lived 1 hr north of Tampa!
I read this out at work. Ignorant colleague quipped ‘well yeah it’s really cold and bad in America’...

All cancelled - normal false dawn from the models. Just a slight easterly for early next week, but certainly nothing out of the ordinary.

We had a bit of excitement and then totally lost it, as usual. Better than WindyCommon's 5 seconds of smug though tongue out

So basically, no one knows what the weather will be until the day before at the earliest? hehe

Boo to those teasing Scandinavians, keeping all the cold to themselves.

When I was scraping ice off the car in November I thought we'd be in for a long, cold winter but it's shaping up to be yet another one with no snow whatsoever. No fun to be had.

Looks like the high will end up sitting over the Baltic states instead of over Scandinavia. So this means we miss out on the easterly wind, and the Atlantic gets a better look in on us. However, if the high was to shift west again (and I'm not saying it's on the cards), then it's game on again.

So, so near...

Right you lot, I need to know what the weather is doing next week;

I need to drive to Ireland from London next Friday 12th, return Sunday 14th (return my mum after her Christmas grand tour, this is important as she is now doing my head in love her). I'm then flying to NY on business on the Monday morning. If I had tried to do any of these things yesterday I wouldn't have stood a chance.

A week away? Guess work this far out. And since this is Britain, guess rain and a bit windy and you'll be right 9 times out of 10.

Snow on the hills in the Peak District again today. Drove up to about 900m and there was thin covering, looked like an inch up top.

Yeah, it looks like Winter is pretty much over for this year.

About another 4-6 weeks of rain and slightly-above-zero temps, and then Spring arrives.

Chances of a long, hard Winter in England and Wales (and most of Scotland) are now close to zero, due to global warming.

I thought the highest point in the Peak District (Kinder Scout) was 636m up?

Can you keep it there for a couple of weeks?

Off to a cottage in Tal-Y-Bont then, would be nice to have some snow there.
